Why do people say to drink 7 up when you are sick?

It's the closest thing to gingerale in your neighborhood I guess? the bubbles in  the gingerale and pop can clear your soar throat up at times it seems :)

my mom always gave me 7-Up when I was sick and so now that's what I always want with soda crackers. I have heard of people drinking ginger ale too - it's just supposed to calm the stomach. Sometimes it's easier to have something in the stomach when you are sick rather than have dry heaves.

Because Any Kind Of Bubbly Drink Makes You Burp, And Burping Can Soothe Your Stomach. I Normally Drink Coke A Cola When I'm Sick Because I Like The Taste Of Coke Better Then 7 Up. Drink Any Type Of Fizzy Drink And You Will Feel Better!

I've never heard that. I always drink warm Vernors when I'm sick cuz it calms the stomach

Hello,

All my life since the 50's, the doctors always suggested ginger ale to me since it seems to help stabilize an upset stomach; haven't heard of 7-Up doing that.

I think the lemon and lime is supposed sooth the stomach, it does help and so does Ginger ale.

That is all misguided information.  If one is sick they should fast taking in only fruit juices, veggie juices, teas and water with lime.

This helps clean the blood and the digestive system
