Why do people say were going to die on 12/21/12?

i hear people say were going die on 12/21/12 because that's when the aztec calendar ends, but the US calendar ends every year on 12/31 then starts 1/1.

why do all people think were going to die. just someone please give me a detailed answer so i could understand more about this "belief"

A lot of people will die on 12/21/2012.  Most of us won't.

It is an old Mayan prophecy, based on the Mayans'  great astronomical knowledge. But that doesn't mean that they were right. Our scientists have been wrong about things, which much more technology than the Mayans had. I don't sit around worrying about it.
