I mean in a military of 1.6 million and total fit for service population of 90 million we have less than 200000 troops in Iraq and afganistian....so why is it people keep saying we can't help Georgia because we have to many people in Iraq and Afganistian............ .....I eman we have 1.4 million troops across the rest of the world including 400000 all across Europe why do people think we have no troops left?

  1. can i get an amen, i couldnt agree with you more, same with $ people say our debt is because of the war in iraq, may i remind you that our debt is almost 10 trillion dollars, and iraq hasnt even costed a trillion.  And that money does help boost our economy (employ 1.6 million americans, support american companies that build ships, planes...)

Also someone questioned your numbers and i would like to say you were wrong it is 149,000

  2. When has anyone said we have NO troops left?  There are also many support troops behind the scene.  The reason why they say we can't help Georgia is because our troop commitment is actually much bigger than the actual number of troops deployed.  It's not our duty to intervene in every military action taken by other countries.  Too bad Dubya won't take his own advice when he says, "Bullying and intimidation won't be tolerated in the twenty-first century," because that's exactly what we are doing in Iraq and Afghanistan.

  3. Cause they are ignorant incompetent fools, who need to make up some excuse, for not fighting a justified cause.

  4. did not now tht... lol mabe cuz the cia dosnt want europe 2 now wer gonna jump em with an army of half a million... MUAHAHAHHAHHAHA

seriusly tho is tht true? i honestly did now. if you needed an army of 90 million youd need 2 draft tho, and if that happens then i am ditching this place

  5. The U.S. won't send combat troops to Georgia because it would make a bad situation worse.  And because U.S. Secretary Robert Gates said he wasn't.

And I too think your numbers are out of wack.  Not to mention the fact that I'm sure the men and women who were deployed would like some sort of break before they get deployed again.  Especially the National Guard and Reserve units that have full-time jobs back home that the U.S. has been relying so heavily on.

But don't take my word for it...here's the '08 U.S. Army Posture statement:

    http://www.army.mil/aps/08/critical_chal...

It begins with, "Today’s Army is out of balance. The current demand for our forces in Iraq and Afghanistan exceeds the sustainable supply and limits our ability to provide ready forces for other contingencies."

BTW...the situation in Georgia is NOT their fault.  Russia used naked aggression against Georgia for strategic reasons.  I can't believe the number of people on here who are ignorant to believe that the situation in Georgia is their fault.

  6. Our military numbers are way down from what they used to be because of all the stop loss that is happening. I am currently in iraq right now and there are So many people that were getting out of the army and they got F***** and had to turn around and come back because there contract got extended because of shortage.. Man going to help Georgia would just end up starting something else up because fighting these two wars is enough you know how hard it will be if we go into it with russia two????? Not a good idea we need to worry about these two right now.... And not only that It was Georgia's fault...

  7. So what do you think we're doing?  Just sitting around twiddling our thumbs waiting to go somewhere??  Don't we need rested replacements for those 200,000?  Don't we have responsibilities elsewhere that we just can't abandon and leave them vulnerable?  We used to have the ability to fight on 3 fronts in the world, but thanks to Donald Rumsfeld, no more.

  8. Because this mistaken fact supports the liberal agenda. They say that if we weren't tied up in Iraq we would not have any other world problems, ridiculous.

  9. Even if all US military will be inside the US it would be the same.

Because Georgia started genocide in S.Ossetia and Russia was a peacekeeper there approved by all sides and UN.

  10. not everyone is STILL in Iraq and Afganistan. Tons of people JUST got back from deployment. My husband got back a few months ago and my brother got back today(as well as thousands of others). Can we let these guys rest first!?

  11. I think you need to restudy your Numbers.

  12. hear you excellent attitude

    but this is Russia

I do not want to see Georgia go down.

but remember Putin is still pulling strings he is old school KGB. They are smarting because the world has been IGNORING them for the last few years as if they dont matter.

They want to think they are still players.

    this is a pissing contest.

un peacekeepers had better get deployed fast

  13. Some people are stupid, but we would never ever help Georgia, Russia is a nuclear power and my whole family is with government defense agencies and the military and we are a lot closer to killing each other than you would like to know.

  14. That was the EXCUSE our OWN government made when there weren't any troops around to initially help the Katrina victims those first few days. That's why.

  15. People have no concept of how very large our military is.

    Let them think like children.
