Question:

Why do people slander Palin for having a career and a family but no one says the same of Obama?

Isn't he away from his family for extended periods of time to concentrate on his campaign? Yet no one brings up the family issue. Oh I get it, it's because he's a man.

Isn't that a little sexist and a double standard?

  1. Why can people get away with calling Obama a Muslim and making fun of his father, but you call Palin incompetent and mock her daughter, that's suddenly going too far?

  2. Obama didn't choose to give birth to an infant he knew would be a special needs child then found something more important to him to do 4 months later.  If you claim you are for "family values" then value your family over your career or shut up.

  3. Not because gender. It because Obama standout that he has best education he can proud of. He has two cute girls and bahaving so well, means they have a good family velua. You didn't find Obama's wife DUI. Instead, Palin, don't know her educatoin.(high school?) DUI husband? Using drug histroy? Teen prenant? All sounded messed up. If a person can't manager her own business, can she really lead others? If your own house is on fire, do you have a mind/time to help others to build new house? lol. Simple.  So No palin. Yes to Obama.

  4. it is an antiquated argument

a stay at home mom is considered a luxury

  5. Speaking of Democrats with newborn children, the media weren't particularly concerned about John Edwards running for president despite his having a mistress with a newborn child.

  6. Touche my friend... I've been asking the very same question.

If I was Todd Palin I'd be very upset at the liberals for basically assuming he can't be a successful stay at home dad.

Any working mothers that think what the democrats are doing to this woman is okay need to have a psychological examination.

  7. THANK . . . . .YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Contrary to popular belief, democrats are actually people.  They're just as sexist, just as racist, just as hypocritical as everyone else.  They love to think they are above it all, but this election has shown that they aren't even close.

  9. yep very sexist--it looks like she takes care of her family to me--looks like a good balance...they say alot of smack about her because her daughter is pregant but the girl is 17 with a mind of her own--I remember 17..you do what you want to do at that age--I think that her having a career and having her family (people forget that her HUSBAND is a stay at home dad) just shows how strong she is~

  10. Does Obama have a pregnant teenage daughter?  Hmmm...

  11. No, it's a lot sexist not a little.  And just for arguments sake, how do we know Obama is a man?  Did he tell us that, or do we surmise it because of the way he dresses?

  12. Obama's been slandered, his wife's been attacked.

Cindi McCain's been criticized for being wealthy. McCain's been criticized for being too old, too Bush, not knowing how many homes he has, etc.

  13. yea it is just that

    a double standard

  14. I don't believe the Dems are parading a family of mistakes up in front of the world and claiming it to be the morals of America...

Kind of funny if you ask me.. A president candidate that dumps a crippled wife and goes off with a heiress of fortune, and now parading a dis-functional family as the potential second family?   WOW!!!!!  Whats next? A Secretary of State that is on Probation?

  15. No double standard at all...Obama isn't a Christian fundamentalist.  But, thanks for asking.

  16. It is a double standard but don't you think it's hyppcritical when Palin preaches abstinence and can't even implement abstinence in her own home?

  17. because Obama doesn't preach from a "conservative christian values"  platform...duh

(oh and isn't Palin starting to sound like a taliban with her war as a message from god dribble?)

  18. Because Obama is a lib

  19. People have criticized him about his daughters being brought along on campaign events and photographed and interviewed, so stop.  (And look up the word slander sometime.)

  20. Because Obama has his children displined to not have s*x until you are married...  Her s*x education is not inline with the home front, what makes you think she can straighten out a country giving "BAD" examples from home...???

SO EVERY 17 year old girl should make a pregnancy pact like Palin's daughter, that's cool huh???

No this is cool, vote Obama/Biden 08

  21. To use a redneck word ... Yep.

  22. Dont forget Biden.  His wife died tragically when she was young.  He had 2 young boys at home that he was RAISING ALONE while working in the Senate.  SOmehow he managed with no questions asked.

  23. don't obamas' wife work full time?

  24. That's because liberals think it's only acceptable that a WOMAN take care of the children and not the MAN.  A liberal woman believes if you want to get ahead in society, you should have an abortion.  A child isn't a gift, but an obstacle..... silly.

  25. His political platform isn't that he's a "soccer mom".

Frankly I don't care that she has a family or not, I care about her political positions and experience. Two years as governor of Alaska and a degree and journalism doesn't even have me convinced she can handle a budget that requires more thought than simply raising taxes on the oil industry.

  26. I don't know who the "they" that you are referencing.  it would be good to give examples when you are going to make accusations.

If you are referring to the media then please give me examples and names and when they have said this and in what source.  I see the media criticizing McCain's vetting process, not Palin being a career mom..

If you are talking about YA Answers people then I think you have not been paying attention.  Obama is criticized for many personal things on here that people ignore from McCain.  I have even seen people bringing up a unbalanced person claiming he had a homosexual relation without any evidence... and yet the same people want proof for McCain's extramarital affairs.... (or people simply criticizing Obama for being black).   You will never get average Americans in a forum like YA answers to stop using uninformed and very personal attacks on anyone.

  27. It's absolutely sexist!!

I saw 2 journalists arguing that point.  One reporter said, "how can she handle this job as a mother of 5?"

The other said, "that's not a fair question.  Why is it fair to ask her how she can handle the job as a mother and not ask a male candidate how he can handle the job and be an involved father?  Its insulting to women to insinuate they can't handle it as good as a man could if they're parents and insulting to insinuate fathers are automatically not as involved as mothers."

I thought that was an excellent response.

  28. Great question, I was wondering the same thing. Women are constantly saying how insulting it is that McCain chose a woman VP, and everyone condemns her for leaving her kids to do the job, but nobody mentions anything about Obamas kids. And yes, it's because he's a man. It's very sexist but they'll never admit to it.. If they do they'd have to find a new reason to ridicule her.

And as you see from the answers you're getting, even when they're wrong, and they know they're wrong, they'll never admit it. Oh well. It's just making them look like the hypocrites that they are. Way to represent for your party.

  29. Isn't it sexist for all of the people in attendance at the RNC to be wearing buttons that say "The Sexist VP, from the Coldest State" ?  That seems pretty sexist to me.

I mean, I completely feel you about the whole career and family thing.  Truth of the matter is, however, that the Obama camp didn't say (and hasn't said) anything along those lines, NOTHING.  The people who said that are unaffiliated with the Obama camp.  If you had watched the post show after the RNC, you would have found that out like everybody else did.  Nobody in Obama's camp cast that kind of stone at Hilary Clinton, and they didn't do it with Sarah Palin either.

The most sexist gesture at the RNC were those buttons all the women and men were wearing.  THAT'S SEXIST!!!
