Why do people smoke cigars?

Question

I live in florida & alot of ppl smoke cigars outhere,what i dont understand is why do they smoke them if they dont inhale?my dumb brother spends alot of money on contraband cuban cigars & he doesnt even inhale the smoke,i guess ppl just think they look cool doing it..but im fed up with the smell & even my boyfriend when he gets drunk he smokes the cigars that are dipped in cognac.so why do they do it?

I see some ignorant answers to those who dont have a clue due to their own lifes choices.

There are flavors within a cigar much like tasting different wines..

If someone eats sushi/sashimi (and I do), its because they enjoy the food.  If you dont shut your clam hole from knocking it, and end your comment with it's not for you.

If someone likes a Ford over a Chevy (and I dont give a c**p), it's because they have found charactoristics of the car/truck they like.  Dont knock them, just end your comments with in my personal opinion!

Oh by the way, if you never have drove one tasted some, or enjoyed a good cigar it is just like voting.  If you didnt vote, you cant bitc* about the newly elected!

I love smoking cigars and have been doing it for 16+ years - if you don't have a clue about the past time than you need to shut your pie hole.

Its my preference to do what I want to do, and since its legal, what's it to you?

And oh - your brother is prolly spending a lotta money on fakes.....

I usually smoke a pipe for relaxation, and that goes the same for cigars.  Its a stress reducer and makes me relaxed to fire up my pipe or a good cigar.

You technically dont smoke a cigar like a you smoke a cigarrette. As said before the smoke from it alone is enough and if you keep it close to your nose your getting the light headed feeling off of it. Other belive the aroma of the cigar is nice.

Smoking a cigar is very much like enjoying a fine wine. You just relax and enjoy the flavor. They have different flavors depending on the tobacco blend. You should not inhale a fine cigar as that would diminish the flavor. Although, I certainly don't have a problem with those who do inhale.

What I do have a problem with, however, is people who have no idea what they are talking about bashing someone else's tastes. I hate seafood, but if you say you are going to have lobster for dinner I would not say you were a idiot and call for you to spare the lobster.

Most people who criticize cigar and pipe smokers are ignorant to what they are criticizing. For example, did you realize that the Surgeon Generals report states that those who smoke five cigars or less per day have the same death rate as nonsmokers? Did you realize that acording to the report "Pipe Smokers who inhale live just as long as nonsmokers. Pipe smokers who don't inhale live longer than nonsmokers." (Death rate 20% less than for nonsmokers)" But don't take my word for it, read it yourself:

The tobacco is absorbed in the mouth rather than the lungs.  Some people actually like the smell and taste.  I personally love the smell of pipes.  I'm sure some people do it to look cool but that could be said of anything really.  A lot of cigar smokers get mouth/tongue/throat cancer rather than lung.

From Grapestomper Down to his post... everything that needs to be said has been said.  If you don't like it.. walk away, why is it such a big deal for you.  

And ditto to the comment about them being fakes!  Cubans are such old news, even real ones are nothing to rave about.  I'll take a Fuente or Padron any day over a cuban.
