Why do people spend all this $ "closing their pool"? i just turn off the pool, then let it freeze. Is this bad

i just let it freeze through then open a skating rink:

i charge 5 bucks an hour and loads of ppl come!!

Cant help you all Texas poolrooms have heaters and are open year round .Of course if you mean Swimming pools but with your brain I know you know what catagory your in .Do you have a video of someone skating on a pool table ??

No, spending all of the money to "close the pool" is not necessary. Adding these extra chemicals into the pool at closing just makes the opening easier, since there will be less algae to clean up. The water will also clear up faster. If you have the extra time to spend on vacuuming during opening then there is no need for the extra chemicals.

You might want to take a look at the pool closing article and illustrations at http://www.a2dvoices.com/realitycheck/po... to verify that freezing will not affect any of your equipment.  Most equipment has drain plugs to prevent equipment damage.

If the slate on your pool table freezes,it will most likely crack the slate,so i do not recomend it!!
