then pretend it was their idea and make it seem as though you copied them??this has happened to my son and his wife, their little girl is due October 1st and they have had her name picked out since she was i month along.a co worker of Roberts had her baby about 2 weeks ago and stole their name ,even copying the exact spelling of RYLEE FAITH!!! isn't that just tacky!!

its not my favorite as i think Riley is a boys name and not suited for a girl but still i think this was rude.are people just not able to name their own kids without being a bunch of copy cats???

i will give my granddaughter a nick name because i am not calling her rylee.i just do not like it but i respect my son and his wife's choice.

i tried to tell my son that imitation is the most sincere form of flattery but it is still annoying!!! any one else have this problem?

  1. i can't believe they even copied the middle name! That is very rude and since he must have told everyone at his work, i am sure others there think it is rude too.

I said i was going to name my daughter either Ella or Lilia and a woman at my work picked the name Ella. I told her it and she was like 'oh that is a nice name' I was annoyed but i named my daughter Ella anyways. At least they have different middle names.

And since my daughter was born after hers people thought i was copying!

  2. That is incredibly tacky

  3. maybe they could name her Rylie Grace its spelled different & then Grace has the concept as Faith!!!!!! yaou could also call your granddaughter Grace or Gracie!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Ha ha- Same thing happened to My husband & Myself !!!

Our friends were  having a little girl and at the baby shower we were all discussing baby names.

I wasn't pregnant at the time, but I said that I was thinking of the name "Riley" and spelling it "Ryleigh".

My mothers middle name is Leigh and I wanted to include that in there somehow.

The baby was born 2 months later, We get the birth announcement in the mail and sure enough, there's the name-

    RYLEIGH MADISON

All I could do was laugh, at least I had a reason for changing the spelling, lol!

I agree with you now, it does sound like a boys name.

I consider it a good thing, now that I think of it Ryleigh is a very trendy name and spelling, lol.

    Great Question!

    I wish you the best!

  5. people are jerks

and by the way i like that name

  6. That is INCREDIBLY tacky! I would be supremely pissed. That's why I plan on keeping our childrens names a secret from our friends and family until they are born. Also, I think if you let the names slip, then they'll be open to criticism and the parents might feel obligated to change the name if grandparents (like in your situation), aunts, uncles, best friends, etc, don't like the name. Haha, my fiancee and I have agreed on Rylie Jennifer for a girl Noah Zaccheus for a boy, and not one single person in our family knows the name choices, except for my 86 year old grandfather (Zaccheus) in case he's not around when he/she is born. I think he'll keep my secret safe : )

However, I think the name your son and his wife picked out is beautiful. Tell your sons co-worker he's a jerk!

    Good luck!

  7. Yes, it is rude and tacky. I really don't know why anyone would think that is okay. I guess its best to keep the name you like under wraps and not share it with anyone.

  8. All you can say is oh well and hope they don't end up in class together :P Before me and my boyfriend started dating we sometimes talked about baby names for fun and I mentioned Lucilia and he was like "I'm going to steal that name from you!" so now it doesn't really matter (unless we don't end up together, but even then it doesn't) but I don't mention that name to many people. I wouldn't want it to become popular enough that my child is in class with someone who has the same name :P

  9. I never see any of my co-workers when I was pregnant

We all live in different town, and work in the city

Do your son live near the co-worker

    If not, who's care

Yes, it's wrong, but if you do not want someone else to use the name, then just tell family

  10. I think that is horrible...but they should have kept it to themself. I know when your excited you want to tell the world, but next time they will know not to say anything.

  11. i think that is so tacky... i cant stand when people do that it just seems so stupid!

  12. That's why people should keep their baby names to themselves if they can't handle someone else using it first, because it's bound to happen. I don't mean for that to seem rude to you, but there really is no reasonable answer to your question. It's just what happens, and there's only one way to fix it. But that's also the problem with picking popular names, like Rylee (or any other spelling). Others will like it, and want it, although it would be nice if they would just admit they got the name from someone else.
