Why do people stereotype and why are people so cruel and viscious?

how people are so mean and they stereotype against people.

i would like to know your opinions.

It's easier to criticize others than to accept your own faults and imperfections. It's called denial. The world is full of finger pointers like that. It keeps them out from under the looking glass.

I think people stereotype to make themselves feel better. The main reason i think people do this is because they are ignorant on a subject. I mean being ignorant by not knowing why a person acts or dresses a certain way. People come up definitions to things that we can't explain or don't want to explain.

I understand what you mean. I don't know why exactly since I can't speak for everyone, but from my observations, people just don't have anything interesting to say.

They are compulsive talkers who spew out anything that comes to mind without actually thinking about it. If people stopped and thought about how other people feel, then maybe we wouldn't have "cruel and vicious" people.

There are also people who follow the crowd and go along with what their friends think. I hate that.

People are mean to others but when suddenly they're the victim, that's when they realize they did wrong. You know what saying, "You don't know someone till you've walked in their shoes" ? I think we should practice that.

stereotyping is typically an immediate concisous or subconcious description of someone and their behaviors.  for most people, they do it immediately and don't recognize what they are doing.  The bad thing about stereotypes is that once you have categorized someone into a particular role or class, then every action taken by the stereotyped person that is observed by you becomes a self fullfilling prophecy.  You will only recognize the traits that fit the stereotype, which renforce the stereotype and ignore the traits that go against the stereotype.

its funny. when 2 people can agree on a common characteristic of other people that is not normal/common to them, its easy to make fun of. then it hurts the feelings of the stereotyped person so that he/she remains secluded or shoots them. part of being human

People stereotype because it's easy to conclude on someone's actions based on their ethnicity, religion, etc. It just shows that they lack education and an acceptance of all people. It also gives them a reason to believe why some people are better than others.

i just hate stereotypes

it all starts with people thinking that they are much better than other people because they have something or own something that makes them "great" and then they act stuck up and start drama and especially name "groups" because of what or who the people are

the stuck up people become cruel and vicious is because just the same they think they are better than everyone else and start making fun of people that don't have the same personality, looks, materials and most of them make fun of people just because they look weird, sound weird, act weird so on

it just messes everything up and destroys lots of confidence and self esteem

its horrible how this happens
