  1. Because it's proven scientific fact.  The many proofs are way to long for a Yahoo answer, they're in the links.

This is science and what counts is the data.

"I wasn’t convinced by a person or any interest group—it was the data that got me. I was utterly convinced of this connection between the burning of fossil fuels and climate change. And I was convinced that if we didn’t do something about this, we would be in deep trouble.”

Vice Admiral Richard H. Truly, USN (Ret.)

    Former NASA Administrator, Shuttle Astronaut

Here are two summaries of the mountain of peer reviewed data that convinced Admiral Truly and the vast majority of the scientific community, short and long.

    summarized at:

There's a lot less controversy about this is the real world than there is on Yahoo answers:

And vastly less controversy in the scientific community than you might guess from the few skeptics talked about here:

EVERY major scientific organization has issued an official statement that this is real, and mostly caused by us.  The National Academy of Sciences, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Institute of Physics, the American Chemical Society, the American Geophysical Union, the American Meteorological Association, etc.

  2. Global warming is not a hoax at all. It's the government and media that lead us to believe it is. Why do you think the polar bear aren't on the endanrged lis? the thing is people are trying to make change because we need it. It's hurdles like the media preventing that. The media has a very unique way of showing whats important the people watching. For some reason they do not show the importance of global warming. Why do you think they say climate change instead of global warming? The reason for this censorship is because industries release more gas than thousands of cars on the road. this planet is getting to hot.

Venus is alot like how earth will be if we don't stop global warming

  3. because they're ignorant enough to let the media brainwash them

  4. As if anyone can prove it is/isnt a hoax?  How would you go about proving it?  Might as well prove God exists at the same time and that the Lochness monster still lives.

People always have and always will be blown around by every wind of doctrine or theory.

And Im guessing you havent watched Al Gores documentary on why he thinks its true.  Without haveing reviewed the evidence, how can you possibly have an opinion of value at all?

Im not saying I agree one way or the other, but to claim it is/isnt true, you better have alot of hard evidence to back up your claims.

At least Al Gore did his homework, youve probably done jack squat.

  5. It give people the opportunity to feel smarter then they are.

"I believe what Dr. X says, so I'm as smart as he is"

Or being a part of a majority gives people a sense of security

"I follow what others do so I must be right"

And lastly it gives them the sense of superiority over others.

"He doesn't believe the same things as I do, so I must be smarter than him"

  6. Well, when the world is flooded and the average daily temperature is over 200 degrees, I'll know who to thank.

  7. because we need SOME fictional enemy to unite against. what else are we gonna do with our time? cure things that are killing us today? of course not! if we did that then the hospitals wouldn't make as much money by keeping our relatives alive as vegetables.

  8. "Not believing" in climate change on a global scale is about as absurd as "not believing" in gravity.  Most of the most credible scientific sources in the world (such as NAS and AAAS) support theories of global climate change, and advocate immediate action.

Now, I understand how that sounds, and most people would brush it off as liberal propaganda (i'm not that liberal btw) and claim that i don't know what i'm talking about.  But if you don't support action against global warming, there is always this:  Global warming is happening, most scientists admit this.  But, there are more scientists who claim that global warming is a natural phenomenon and it is caused mainly by natural causes, *NOT* human activity such as carbon emissions from our cars.

Now THATS something to think about.  This is the position that most Repulicans and Conservatives should take about this issue, because the other option: blind disbelief- is absurd.

  9. IT'S NOT A HOAX! THERE IS PROOF. HAVE YOU SEEN THE GLACIERS! our earth started melting 2,000 years ago. Us humans have just made it worst. Lake Ocaboji, Iowa, was a glacier, now it a great summer swimming pool. Penguins, Polar Bears, and other arctic species are dying. Don't you see the issue?!

  10. Perhaps because it is scientifically sound. Or because it has been essentially proven by the overwhelming amount of scientific evidence?

  11. Why do you still believe in the conspiracy theory that hundreds and hundreds of climate scientists of different nationalities, different political backgrounds, different ages, different religious, etc. are all part of a huge hoax?

You can rant and assert your own brilliance till the cows come home, but until there is scientific evidence worthy of persuading the leading climate scientists of the world that global warming isn't real, the wise position to take would be that they are right and you are wrong.

  12. Re: sunspots, not that a blog site is that accurate to start with, and I would wonder if they just cherry picking quite days as there have been a number of large sunspots already and we are only 5 months into the new cycle.

Below is the link to the SOHO site, the image I have linked shows the MDI Magnetogram which is the best one to see sunspots as the scale in the bottom right corner shows the smallest of these spots is the size of the Earth.

The second link is a small movie which also shows quite a bit of sunspot activity.

  13. It's a religion,blind leading the blind.

  14. Because some people need a cause to believe in and that would be fine however the cause should be to inspire and lift us up.   Certain people for some reason love the idea of bringing humanity down and blaming them for everything.  Here is the sad thing,  they whine about coal or oil, and spew out their hatred by touting the negatives of using these resources.  They never talk about the positives these resources have given us.  Ability to fly, to travel, to provide energy, food, and better health care.  I was logger, all we ever heard from doomsayers is we are murders of trees, they never even understood how the forest is managed or what it would look like a few years after we cut.   The open mined ones would realize they were misled., the believers it didn't matter they have no common sense and don't care about the other side of any environmental issue.

Cindy here is an example of these nuts,  I emailed one of them accusing loggers of being criminals, and he said we caused the extinction of a species.  So being open minded  I wanted to find out what the logging practice was that caused this, and lo and behold.   The species was not only living it was thriving because the resource department and the loggers were working together.  When I emailed the individual,  he rfused to believe it,  these people have no business having any say on policy.  They hurt the environment in the name of science they are truly misguided.

  15. i can't wait until the day we totally destroy the earth, and then people start believing.

we are killing ourselves, believe it or not.
