  1. what are you talking about ?

robots actually have been very sucessfull and NOT failures in many aspects of peoples jobs

so im still kind of lost on your question

  2. All technological research is important. Even if the stated goal is never reached numerous benefits are created during the attempt. Robotics has helped create prosthetic limbs for instance. Ideally we will one day have robots capable of doing all the things that are too dangerous or monotonous for humans to do. Why would they be a waste of time?

  3. Wasting their time? How? I'll give just one example: the number one cause of road accidents in the world are people. People make silly errors causing unnecessary deaths. If you could eliminate people from the drivers seats and have the car controlled roboticly then you'd save so many lives. And engineers are out their doing this; designing cars that can drive themselves around some pretty tough terrain. Each year they 'race' their latest designs and each year they are getting better and faster.

You have to remember robots aren't always the humanoid things you see in movies.

  4. what does this have to do with Special Education?  do you even know what special ed means?

  5. There are some good uses.

Right now they are using robots to teach autistic students how to tell if their faces are looking dull or showing emotions. That will help the students to have nice, happy faces when they talk to other people, so they will have more friends & keep their jobs better.

They use robots in car factories to do dull, boring jobs that people can't stand to do, like tightening bolts all day.

They are developing robots to do tiny operations on people's hearts, too small for fingers to reach into.

Those are just three good uses of robots, out of many.

  6. I don’t know where you got the idea that who build a robot is wasting time. But the answer is so simple robots have higher accuracy in doing the job than humans as they are built to move in specific coordinates, robots have higher productivity than human they don’t take breaks and they don’t get tired and they don’t take vacations plus they work faster -They also don’t ask for a raise:)- last as robots can work in conditions that no human can like very high or low temperatures or in the outer space. This answer was in regards robots that are used in the industries not the ones that tell stories and play music. I hope you find that helpful

  7. just don't understand why most of the people want to create such a stupid robot first thing when they learn how to program.

Recall reading an article Robots Teach Autistic Kids Social Skills this summer in my local library, showing how the eternal patience of robots lends itself well to teaching new social skills to autistic children. 'The researchers hope that the end result is a human-like robot that can act as a "social mediator" for autistic children, a steppingstone to improved social interaction with other children and adults. It provides autistic children with reliability and predictability. Since there are no surprises, they feel safe and secure." Addingg that the purpose is not to replace human interaction and contact but to enhance it.  Researchers has already tested some imitation and turn-taking games with the children and his preliminary findings are positive.

  8. A robot is new technology, unless it is a copy of another.   Technology is made to make our lifes easier, the television gives us faster news as well as entertainment.  Thanks to the car we can travel and send things faster.   Technology is created to help improve are life, and sometimes just because they inventor wishes to create another form of life in their eyes.

  9. because the movie "Rise of the Machines" is a true movie

  10. its not a waste, we use robots for lots of things. space exploration, the military and police use them for dangerous missions.  your car was built by one.

  11. To show how smart  and how advanced they are, I guess.

  12. A lot of the robots that are made public are a waste of time, but a good number of robots are very useful.  Robots are used in manufacturing, reducing product cost, and many service applications.

Before you say that people are wasting their time, remember what goes in to diffuse a bomb in public, saving lives.  Remember that robots are enabling doctors to treat patients when they cannot visit them in person.  Remember that you use some form of automation, aka robots, everyday.
