I understand that it was fed to slaves but even eating them out of tribute is holding on to a negative part of your past.

  1. How about we eat them because we LIKE to eat them.  It has nothing to do with slavery, tribute, or negativity.  Every culture has something that they still eat from their past.  Jewish people may eat challah.  Irish people may eat potatoes.  If they like to eat it, let them.

  2. Chittlin's is good food.  Did you ever try any?

  3. It is part of their history and culture just like say, rice is part of mine.  They LIKE it.

  4. I agree with the first answer, people from different cultures eat a wide variety of different foods,  personally I love southern cooking, it's bad a$$, haven't tried chitterlings yet, but would like to.

  10. From culture to culture our tastes in food are different.  What you think is disgusting is probably delicious to others and vice versa.

I am to understand that Black people don't eat them out of tribute they eat them because they like them.  I can see how someone might view that as them holding on to a negative part of the past, but Black culture tends to take the negative and turn it into a positive.  Such as chitterlings and the "N" word.  It's actually more of a way of showing their perseverance to some, but that can change with time as all cultures change slightly over time.
