  1. Archeology is related to history and it is important to know the past in order to understand the present and to be able to predict the future. The human life spends over thousands of years and many lessons of the past need to be uncovered so that the human race will know where we came from and where we are going.

  2. Archeology and History. Great subjects. The futurre lay ahead of us and none know what it holds for us. The past is gone and with the exception of the written history of man, it is all but unknown to us...except for archeology.

It is assumed that each generation of the human family propells us further down the road of knowledge and sophistication. But this is NOT true. There is much we have learned inthe past and have lost it due to wars, riots, insurrections, religious suppression of scienctific research, and just plain bad storage facilities.

Read about the Alenandrian Library if you want to know what we as a species has lost over the several milennium

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Library_of_...

Also, reference the term Dark Ages as it relates to that period of time "lost" to the modern historian because of great political and religious persecution of the free mind. We as a species, literally SLEPT through some 800 years of living, discarding and supressing ANY new ideas.

People like Johan Kepler, Copernicus, Erastosthenes, layed down the rules of their many observations only to have them lost to the future, only to be ressurescted by the likes of, Newton,  and many others.

The "soft" remnants of our past are mostly gone. Archeology is the only "hard" evidence we have of our distant past. And it tells us painfully little without much investment in  thought on our part...often not totally revealing. We must fill in the blanks of the past with a best guess hypothesus based on what we know in the present. It is not always accurate.

Archeology is our connection to the past as we travel confidently into the future. It is our roadmap.
