same reason they take legal ones like tobacco and alcohol, to relax...plenty of people at the hospital that I work at take cigarette breaks to get their "fix"...

marijauna is no more dangerous than cigarettes or alcohol,in fact,studies show cigarettes kill more people in one day than marijuana has in the last 50 years,i feel it should be regulated like alcohol, have the same restrictions as alcohol,but no,because its hard to tax so it will never be legal,goddamn government regulations

Either they have problems they cant deal with so they self medicate or they enjoy using the intoxicant.

People take drugs essentially because they like the effect--they like the way it makes them feel.  Addicts/Alcoholics are this way and they do not want to live life on life's terms--i.e. they use drugs to escape from whatever they are feeling, whether it be depression, stress, anger, or to intensify the happiness they are feeling.  Other people use drugs to experiment or because of peer pressure.  Is it wrong? Of course.  Do I know addicts who are sick and need help? Absolutely.  Have they made mistakes or committed crimes?  You bet.  Are they intrinsically good people? YES.
