  1. cause dr would not have a job if we did not take them

  2. In today's day and age there is a pill for everything. And I mean EVERYTHING. I honestly think that the pharmaceutical company sits around and makes conditions up so people will feel that they need their meds. There's a pill for anxiety, ED, depression, colds, etc. The pharmaceutical companies are worth billions thanks to a world full of hypochondriacs. Granted there are medications out there that do work and are needed. But come on people, put the pill bottles down and stop expecting one little pill to be the cure to all your problems.

  3. They need it to stay better :D

  4. to help the body maintain a healthy state and function the way it is meant to. some people take medication for their bones to help them produce calcium that normal bones should produce and some people take insulin because their pancreas no longer produces it. without medication, many people's health would digress and the state of their body would be an infinite amount of times worse than it already is. if medication did not help our bodies maintain a healthy state, no one would take them. about the last part of your question, it is true that viruses can become immune to certain antibiotics such as penicillin which millions of people can no longer take because it is no longer effective against certain viruses. this does not mean you should not take medications. if you are going to have the mentality that medications only make you worse then its like saying doctors are only out there to kill people because they cant fix everyone all the time. not everyone knows everything about the human body because it is extremely complex and your medication was prescribed to you with the intention of making your body keep up with its normal state, not make you worse in health.

  5. the doctor ordered me too , I'm taking 7 different kind of pills and two different kinds of insulin , so I can honestly say  all this stuff I'm taking to keep me alive is killing me

  6. take medicine for what? if its pain meds than its obviously to relieve pain. if its for like sickness... like head colds? some are decongestants and stuff so idk

  7. In this country at least, people have come to expect a remedy for everything.  If they come in with a common cold, but have already decided they need an antibiotic, they get mad as h**l when you tell them you are not going to treat a cold with an antibiotic.  We want a "quick fix" for every problem.

Obviously, the second answer is to speed recovery when you are really sick.  It was not that long ago that Strep throat was a killer.  There are a lot of diseases that would kill you if it were not for modern medicines.

The third possibility is to control pain.

Finally, there are those who like to mess with their brain. These folks better enjoy life now, because it is not going to be very nice for a lot of them in a few years.

Don't know if this addressed your question or not. If not, re-post and be more specific.

  8. My doc explained to me that taking medicine is trading one disease for another, except that the new one has more tolerable side effects.  Like not dying.

Properly administered, medication works very well.  And yes, natural selection is indeed at work with bacteria and viruses.  However your not taking what your doctor tells you to doesn't do much to affect that one way or the other.

  9. The proper use of medication is to improve or maintain health (mental or physical). But all meds come with side effects, some of which are presently unknown.

If your quality of life is good in your (and your trusted doctor's) opinion without meds, then by all means, don't take them.

  10. To get better quicker

  11. medication works with ur body to fight infection... it can also boost ur immune system in some cases.. others it weakens it... ahhh.... yea...
