Why do people talk to thier pets in that high pitched baby voice?

Why do people talk to thier pets in that high pitched baby voice?

I know, it's weird, right? I've never talked to my kids in a high-pitched voice, not even when they were babies, but my cats? Sure. I don't know, maybe because my animals are kind of like living stuffed animals. Or because they can "hear" higher voices better so they listen more when I speak to them like that. Or because I'm subconsciously mimicking their voices, which are higher, just as they are mimicking my voice by talking at all (only domesticated cats talk alot; in the wild they don't need to). Or maybe it' because they are just so damned cute. :)

B/c most animals respond to the tone you use and not necessarily the words spoken.

For ex, if you say "I love you" in a really angry voice, your dog will get all panicky because of the tone you used.

It's just a habit that we get into because we consider our pets our children, are young kids that require extra special attention. Well the pets seem to enjoy it right? So why stop. I know my 40 rabbits love the attention I give them.

BECAUSE MOST PEOPLE DONT ABOUSE THEIR PETS WE TREAT THEM LIKE HUMANS BECAUSE THEY ARE FAMILY, ANY OWNER WOULD UNDERSTAND!

Because many animals have been known to respond to a higher pitched voice.  And because many people think of a pet as a child.  We speak to babies like that all the time.

Because their pets are their kids.  Its annoying.  I dont understand why people do it to their babies either.

I have no idea! But i do it! LOL idk why.........i do consider pets as babies.

To baby it.  Their little wittle babys are so cute just so cute and they look like wittle babys cuz their just a wittle baby.

Haha and the animals feel babied and tend to get a little more mellowed.  It gives them security to talk to them nicely and it doesnt get much nicer than that.
