Why do people tend to push love away?

There scared of commitment?

Find it hard to trust people/constantly have barriers up.

Scared of getting hurt again due to bad previous relationships.

For many reasons.

Depends on the individual though I suppose.

Because its hard to trust again after you've had a broken heart. The first experience of love usually takes people into it wholeheartedly. Love can sometimes be a tragedy. One person usually loves more then the other.

Maybe because they have been hurt before and are scared of making themselves susceptible again to love through fear of getting hurt again.....perhaps that's why, i'm not sure, but i for one, never push love away....love can knock at my door any time of the day!!!

It all depends on your childhood. if you felt like your love was pushed away/rejected by your parents or ones you cared about, then when you get older, you will do that because you are use to someone not being there, not caring, not worrying that when someone does, you reject it.

Because people fear they are more likely to be hurt if they let their guard down. However, when people push love away they are hurting themselves more as they are not allowing themselves to experience the joy of a loving relationship. I'd rather take a chance on love than never know love!

Being loved can be a nuisance, if it's coming from the "wrong" person.

Most people prefer to love (i.e. "to fall in love").
