What do they get out of it ? Do they have some feeling of accomplishment the 1 out of every 10 times they win ?

  1. Poker is a game of vying.  The play money means zero to them.  Winning at play poker means nothing to most people, they just don't care.  If they had $1000 on the line, they would definitely play better.  Without risk of losing money, poker means nothing.  They like to go all in a feel the thrill of seeing bad cards win...that's about it.

  2. One word, LUCK. I was just playing a S&G online, and some idiot went all in, first hand. Three other's did the followed. One player had AA (he wasn't the first all in). The other's had garbage. one garbage hand one on the river. That's why I hate to call a first hand all in online even if I have a monster hand.

  3. Mainly because they don't know any other way to win. When they first started, they probably played in 10 tournaments in a row and lost every one of them. They didn't know why they kept losing (because they sucked) so they figured out if they just go all in on the first hand, they will double up an guarantee themselves a spot in the money, or they will lose it all and can just play in a different tournament.

  4. because sometimes the luck favours  them.

  5. OMG i hate that.   People do it on the sit and go's on poker Stars all the time.  All in first hand with junk.  I also have had my pkt aces burned by sht like Q,5 off suit because of a donkey call!! LOL!!  Its so annoying!

  6. imho, several reasons:

    1. They honestly think their q high can win. The worst I've seen was jx hitting a straight on the river against AA, KK, QQ. Then that guy gets a good run of hands, and starts complaining when somebody draws out on his big pairs...I reminded him he's only the big stack because he donked the Jx.

    2. They don't have the patience to actually build a stack slowly. They feel if the can double up early, they have a better chance to win. In actuality, they are correct: they suck so bad, doubling up early is their only chance to win.

    3. The chips are easily reloaded.

  7. I'll answer your question with a question.  Why would you expect players to take hands seriously when there is no real money involved?  They can reload their play money bank with the click of a button.  If you want to be at a table where people take the game seriously, you will have to grow a set and sit at a real money table.
