  1. Because we currently live in a culture that fosters ignorance and selfishness... Self esteem before achievement... Protesting over actual action...

Parents that give their kids all the material possessions they can shove through the door without actually worrying about the personality of the child.

We have a whole generation that feels entitled to a $300.00 I-Pod, $300.00 cell phone, $1000.00 gaming computer, a car of their choice, only the 'cool' brands of clothes...

All as a gift... All without a second thought...

I know that I am part of that spoiled generation... If I had had a parent that actually cared about ME more then she cared about her drug and alcohol abuse then I might not be the waste of a human that I currently am... But at least I am TRYING to make something of myself...

The generation after mine doesn't even try to do that...

They either get what they want or move on... They are willing to lie, beg, cheat, and steal to get what they feel they are "Owed" or "Disserve".

It is a sad, sad thing...

But it is our own fault for allowing this to happen... For allowing this to continue...

  2. They're really not. There is no reason to believe that anything has fundamentally changed. We are beings that want. Because we want, we take. That is a pretty selfish thing, wouldn't you say?

But there are more resources out there for others, of course. People are ultimately more tolerant, richer, and more intelligent. Let's put those benefits to work instead of chastising humanity for being itself.

  3. The political climate of the time dictates a lot of the feeling of the citizens.  Currently, and for the past 20 years or so, there has been a political climate that can be summarized with this attitude:

    -Get as rich as possible.

-Money is good, and more money is better.

-Get as much as possible and to h**l with the other guy.

This started with the Reagan Administration.  The taxes were slashed on the very rich, while the poor and middle class had support programs cut and taxes raised.  Student loans and grants became difficult or impossible to get.   Welfare and unemployment programs were eliminated.  This went throughout all levels of government and in all programs and agencies.

In short - the rich got richer and the poor got poorer.

This attitude has become the mantra for this country.  It has become much worse in the past seven years.  Other nations look at us and wonder what happened to the prosperous and generous nation of post WWII.

No wonder our status in the world is rock bottom.

Hopefully there will be a change in the next few years.

People need to remember that you can't take it with you when you die.

  4. Because a lot of people are selfish. It's ashame but sometimes you have to be selfish in order to survive.

  5. Because they have free will to choose their way or God's way. Their way is all about them.....money, fame, etc. and God's way are people that are His servant, sheep and do as Jesus would do. They earn their way and try to be good examples for others.

  6. you start completing in high school....there are only so many good jobs...some parents realize that....there are so many slots for college......

  7. They have been affected by the hippies of the 1960s.  Shame on them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Its natural i guess

  9. it's not just these days, people have always been selfish and greedy.

nowadays, it just makes them seem more because you see rich people in needlessly large houses and $500 shirts, when there are kids in africa starving

  10. we are considered the "me" generation...

needless to say, we think everything revolves around us, and everyone should cater to our every whim.

    why?

I have no idea. Technology seems to isolate us from others, and we intern blame others for the emptiness inside, and try to make up for it with "stuff" and go to doing things that we know are wrong for us to make us feel like someone is paying attention to us...just a theory.

  11. It's the parents who raised them.  The generation who can't appreciate anything, because everything has been given to them on a silver platter.  Why do they need do think about anyone else?
