What does Jones have left? Beating an old Tito doesn't mean much. I just don't see why people think Jones has any kind of chance? He isn't the Jones of old that is certain.

  1. roy fans want to believe the old roy is back even after he got drilled many times.

the roy haters want to see jones get smacked around and ultimately ko'd one last time.

  2. Calzaghe is a waste of a champion. The guy has never fought a top opponent when they were in their prime and offered. This guys a slapper a disgrace to boxing. He admited that he does not want to fight the best out there he said he will not fight Kelly Pavlik. Why not Pavlik? or any other top fighters in their prime? Because Joe Calzaghents wants to retire with a zero on his record and a pretty face. He waits untill hopkins is a old man, he waits untill Roy is not the same as he used to be. Joe is a shame to reall Champs like Jermaine used to be at lease he took on all challengers.

  3. There's no question that Jones isn't what he used to be. Prime Jones would KO Calzaghe within 7.  He's old and doesn't have much left in the tank. But Calzaghe seems to think otherwise. He thinks wins against 43 yr old B-Hop and  39 yr old Jones looks better on his resume than a Prime Hungry Pavlik. Beating a 43 yr old B-Hop aint the same as beating a B-Hop who demolished Tito, same with Jones. Jones will lose by a close UD. And this is coming from someone who hates Calzaghe

  4. Roy Jones Jr. will beat Calzahe for a couple of reasons . 1. Is because Jr. is better than what the media wants us to believe I don,t know how the media can tell a fighter it,s time to hang them up or  any other sport. Jr. wants a signature fight the cherry on top of his great career. Roy Jones is the best fighter who has ever lived were not talking about some chump Bernard Hopkins is a third as good as Roy Jones Jr.. I don,t know who made this fight but someone made a big mistake. I like Calzahe he is a really good fighter and I am not taking anything away from him but we are talking about Roy Jones Jr. man. Roy has to much speed to much power but the biggest thing he has going for him is his boxing IQ it is off the chart if you factor in all of this and the fact that he is hungry again and don,t forget Jones is a showman and when they step into that ring it will be show time. All people who love boxing get out your pad and pen school is in section Roy jones Jr. is teaching.

  5. jones is getting his @ss handed on a plate..deal with it dudes dont expect to hear from you for some time..until then p1ss off

  6. Jones has a good chance to KO him.

  7. Beating an old Tito doesn't mean much...but I bet if Roy could get knocked down, but survive to win a decision against Bernard Hopkins, now that's an accomplishment.  Roy, with a broken wrist, whipped the primed Hopkins.   The 1 armed Roy Jones did better against the primed Hopkins than Calzaghe did against a 42 year old Hopkins.

    Makes you go "Hmmm...."

  8. "Beating Tito doesn't mean much."  Neither does beating a 43 year old man, or beating......oh yeah, thats only win he has over a proven fighter - and for the record, Hopkins signature win was against TITO.  The math gets a little complicated, but it ends up with Roy either blasting Calzaghe early or winning an easy decision.

  9. he still has speed advantage, and he can still box.  like Apollo Creed in Rocky IV... and you saw what happened to him.

  10. jones jr has all the belief in the world, and vast boxing experience. he can give it and he can take it, fight on the inside, fight on the outside - calzaghe is one dimensional and just likes to barrage-slap and try and overwhelm their opponents. jones is too skillful and too experiences to fall for that. i'm not sure if many people realise this but while preparing for tito, jones learned how to use his guard properly - tito is known as a 'punches in bunches' fighter but look what jones did, picked them all off with his guard. doesn't matter how many punches calzaghe can throw per round, jones knows how to pick them off and land power punches back as he did against tito. RJJ is the man, true legend of the sport and regaining the title against calzaghe will be the final straw to show the world how great he really is

  11. I realy dont understand why Calzaghe is so good, who did he beat, Lacy, pff who da h**l is Lacy, or a 43 year old man Bernard, Hopkins even knock him down in the 1st, Jones is a way more proven fighter, and the age is only 3 years, its not like Joe has e real age adventage, and the guy above had a real good point, one handed Jones beats a prime Hopkins, while Joe gets knockdown in the 1st a barely wins a SD against 43 years old Hopkins, so whats your point, you must be mentaly retarded not to see why Jones has a huge chance to win

  12. Because who has Calzaghe faced that has the skill level of a Roy Jones? Hopkins was over the hill and slow and old.  Lacy was young and just threw wide slow punches, Kessler was good but never fought at the big stage before.  Roy Jones is a first ballet Hall of Famer and still has the skill and the punch to beat Calzaghe.  The so called "iron" chin of calzaghe was knocked down once and rocked two or three times in the fight against a 43 year old hopkins.  If he was in his prime, calzaghe wouldve lost.  Jones brings a presence, he is popular a showman and a star, he brings life to the ring and was at one time the best in the sport.  That is why i think he has a chance.

  13. because he still has overwhelming speed for his age. His power is also still average. If he takes the fight seriously I think he would give calzaghe a decent fight. After all a 43 yr old hopkins knocked him down in the first round.

  14. Calzaghe is a slapper and Jones does possess a knockout punch.  Calzaghe would win due to him being much younger and having more stamia.

  15. There are a few reasons why the fight with Calzaghe is a winnable fight for Jones.  To begin with, while you are 100% correct in saying that he is not what he used to be, that isnt to say he's a shot fighter by any means.  Roy still has better hand speed, athletic ability, and power than a lot of fighters today.  Also, while his body might be betraying him now, his boxing knowledge and ability is something he wil never lose.  Roy is still a top 5 fighter at 175, and unlike the two fights he lost in rapid succession to Tarver and Glen Johnson, he has been at 175 for a few years now.  Remember, when he fought those two, he was still readjusting from heavyweight, where he gained 18 pounds of muscle and had to lose it to get back to 175 (say what you will, but I'm a lifter; and i promise you, losing 18 pounds of fat is WAY different than losing 18 pounds of muscle. I'm suprised he lasted as long as he did, that had to kill his body).

Also, remember this - Calzaghe's style of fighting is workrate and stamina.  He simply throws a lot of punches, and opponents cant keep up.  But, he is not a knockout puncher by any stretch; he is a slapper.  A fighter like Roy can neutralize a busy, workrate type of fighter with his speed and defense.  Look at his legit losses.  They weren't to slappers, they were to rugged, hard punching finishers.  I'm not saying Roy will have an easy time in this fight, I'm not even saying Roy will win the fight.  What I am saying is that Roy is capable of frustrating a fighter like Calzaghe, and also has the power to knock him out.  So in that respect, this is a very winnable fight for Roy, and far more dangerous for Calzaghe than he acknowledges.
