Why do people think Tibet is part of China, when China Invaded Tibet against its will.

China invaded Tibet in 1949-50. They were not asked to go in and take over, and now the Tibetan people are suppressed and their leader had to flee for his life. Why do people say that Tibet is China, as it is Not.
