Why do people think U.S. is weak and poor now?

because the people have become weak of heart, mind, and body.

the people are apathetic and would rather eat a Big Mac, do drugs, and drink alcohol than take to the streets and demand justice.

the american populous does not think for themselves.  they generally believe what the tube tells them.

crime is up, education is down...america is c**p.

because were just a consuming company, and don't have enough exports going out, were going into recession, we don't have enough jobs, we let in to many immigrants or to many illegal immigrants that are taking or jobs, are doller is worth nothing know, its all george bushs fault, im glad he knows he is a hated president...bleh... i live in the u.s and i know our country is going to have a hard time for quite awhile..

propaganda mostly by other countries, then it spreads to our own citizens who think our media lies (which it does) so they turn to someone else's but theirs is just as corrupt

I think it has to do with the US's fiat currency - the Federal Reserve printing money with nothing to back it.

It used to be that all money was backed by silver and gold (something of substantial value).  Money is just a note representing the value of something else.

At the moment, the Federal Reserve is printing money with nothing to back it, and therefore the US is spending more than they actually have (sort of like using a credit card).  People see this as something that will backfire in the long run - but a lot of other countries are probably in the same boat.

The US is currently importing more than they are exporting (having their goods manufactured in other countries, but doing a good job selling these goods at home).

I do not know if there will actually be strong consequences to the Federal Reserve's practices, but I'm just explaining why people think the US is poor (or going to become poor).  

I don't live in the US - and this is what outsiders are talking about (not that they are weak, but heading for serious financial trouble).
