  1. Because people are ignorant and uneducated as to the benefits of working at fast food , flex hours, healthcare, decent pay and bonuses and advancement to management oppportunities

  2. My guess is because it seems like that person must have flunked out of school to be working at a fast food restaurant likely earning minimum wage.  Or the person is perceived to have absolutely no ambition or brains to work at such a dead end job.  I am not saying it is true, but just the general perception.

  3. Because people like to sit on their high horse and judge.

  4. Because some people have been born with advantages and do not understand that sometimes thats all you can do. they should just be happy you aren't living on the governments dime.

  5. Well, when there are no other jobs around, it certainly seems better than not having a job!

I'm 25, have a college degree and work in a fast-casual chain. It's not uncommon. I suspect lots of people hold disdain for fast food jobs because they couldn't hack it themselves. No joke. Many a soul has had bad experiences working fast food and been fired or quit. Many of these people end up getting other jobs because of some community college classes or beauty school and look down on fast food workers. A lot of the people I deal with couldn't hack it in fast food, or in a kitchen environment, especially many nurses in hospitals. I trust my own crew more than some of the people I deliver to in there...honestly. Take a couple of classes and you can ditch your fast food job or cashier job for a position in a hospital or salon. I would probably rather die than let some of these idiot nurses take care of me.

  6. most older ppl i know that work in fast food are educated and are just workaholics or working off a small debt

  7. because people are snobs...

they don't think they just judge

they have no idea why that person may be working there they just assume that they are stupid...and better then them for some reason..

  8. because we think everyone should have good jobs and c**p like that....but u know what? if it wasnt for them we wouldnt have enough people to work at those places and then what? and maybe there content so leave them alone!!!

  9. Like the person above me said, it seems like a teenager job. When you see a grown adult working as a cashier you think "hmm where did this person's life go wrong?" "do they have no other goals?" and etc. It may not be right, but it is the way it is. Being 30 years old and answering cashier at McDonalds when asked your occupation just doesn't sound good. It makes it seem as if you may be unsuccessful and uneducated. Like I said ... it may not be right, but that's the way it is.

I don't appreciate the thumbs down people ... I was just stating why people do judge it and said it was not right .... sheesh!

  10. When you can't make ends meet and you have to work two jobs, my daughter works in an office in the day and in Arbys in the eveining to make ends meet.  And she is 40 +

  11. they shouldn't. it is hard work and honest work.

  12. It's very different in the South, where I live now.. Working at a fast food place is considered a good job with a decent chance for advancement. Back home in the Northeast, it was considered a lower kind of job to have, one that you took if you desperately needed money. Go figure.

  13. Fast food restaurants are minimum wage jobs. In my opinion, those jobs should be reserved for young teenagers who actually want to work. Older people who have been doing the job for like forever are preventing the young from getting the basic job experience we need. If I apply for the same job a older person applies for, they are going to get that job. We as young people need these opportunities. The old need to stand back

  14. idk. fast food restaurants seems like a teenager job. so when people of 25 work there adults just assume they r not successful. i think a lot of them work at fast food restaurants because they luv working there.

  15. I don't..... I think that maybe because I'm young. But why would someone think that it's redundant.....

  16. They are menial jobs.

  17. because its pathetic. i refuse to work at a fast food restaurant and I'm 18. its a low job in my opinion.

  18. Because a 16yr old kid is their boss.....

  19. i only think badly of them when they are grown adults but still doing a lousy job...

  20. I think it's because people wonder why they haven't gone to college and are working in a better paying job. I don't agree with that in the least. Many of the people over 25 might be moms who don't want a demanding job that stresses them out because they want to be there for their kids. Many of them might like working there. Some of the people who are over 25 working there are there because they have messed up their own lives, but honestly, there's not too many of them. Also, a lot of immigrants work there. I work at McDonalds, and honestly, the immigrants are generally the hardest working people. I think a lot of people see fast food restaurants as the "bottom of the barrel job" which is unfortunate. I work at a fast food restaurant and I really enjoy it. I'm still a teenager, but I think I will keep working there for quite a while. If I don't pursue a career, I will still be able to support myself working at McDonalds, doing something I love.

  21. Stereotypical prejudice.  People don't stop to think that the job (hours, flexibility) and the person working it (extra income) as people.  They think that in order to be happy and successful you have to do what they do and live like they live.

Go to college and make something of your self,

I deal with this personally so this question touched a nerve, with American social values declining every day, and the threat of recession, it's going to get really ugly around here.
