Why do people think diets work?

there has been on proven diet, and yet people ask on these boards all the time, how do i lose weight in 1 week. There is no one week magically lose weight.

If you lose weight, and go back to the old eating habits, you end up back to where you started. Diet is a way of life, not a one week deal, not a 1 month deal.

And what gets me more, is people who answer with, try this diet out, i lost 150 lbs! those are ad gimics and they are just trying to get you to try their product.

Anyway, i try to help people on these boards that actually want to change their lives for the better, it just gets tiring when you see ever other question, "how do i lose weight" or "how do i lose my tummy" and then even more frustrating to see people answer with, "try this exercise program" or "do crunches" which neither work.

So my question... why do people who should know that there is no magical cure to living healthy, ask questions about losing weight?

/end rant

Yes, nutrition and exercise are a lifestyle, and if one is not willing to follow that lifestyle, they will have problems their entire life.

People attempt a diet, and then give up because they arent seeing the magnitude of results they hoped for, drives me nuts.
