Why do people think global warming is fake?

if they take the time to look at the facts then maybe you would see that its real.instead of listening to the people on the news.who says its all lies when they have no prove that proves the theory of global warming wrong.also BETTER SAFE THEN SORRY.

further more if global warming is fake then why did a river dry up in the place i live in a year ago? i live on the wettest place on earth.

People don't know what they're talking about mostly. Then there are political reasons that people try desperately to find ways not to believe. But mostly people are just uninformed and unwilling to look at the weight of the evidence.

They believe it's fake because largely it is.  Climate has been changing, often radically, since the earth cooled from a molten mass.

show we are in minor temperature cycles on a long slide back into another long ice age.

There might be some warming now but eventually it will turn into cooling.  It is all primarily caused by earth wobble.  Our affect is relatively minor.

Now, the people I call neo-Marxist eco-bigots run around ranting about anything they can blame on the evil, greedy industrial capitalists.  Haven't you noticed before the last straw man wears out, they desperately grab onto another one to beat down over industrial capitalism?

I don't know where you live but every time I turn on the news they're doing their best to scare me about global warming. Believing what they tell you is very easy. It takes effort to understand this and most people are content to read a headline or short piece, possibly read an abstract or summary of an abstract.

Over the past year global warming was absent. I don't think most people will argue that the trend over the last 100 years has been upwards. I'll go out on a limb and say that all the way back to the end of the Little Ice Age, about 1840 or 1850, it's been getting warmer. And that it's now the warmest it's been for a long time.

It tends to get warmer during interglacial periods, with some variations in temp but before the next ice age it usually gets warm. The last few ice ages have been about 100,000 years long with interglacials (warming between ice ages) lasting 15,000-20,000 years. We're at about year 18,000 so it's possible it could start tomorrow or possibly not for 2,000 years, but it does tend to get warmer between ice ages.

As to better safe than sorry, do you have any idea at all of what the UN would like us to do to combat global warming? The sacrifice will be enormous unless technology manages to save the day. A warmer Earth with more CO2 is wetter and better for plants and anything that eats plants. The last few times it got warm the human race flourished, so I hope that happens instead of an Ice Age which would be bad for at least 6 billion of us.

The fact that a river dried up isn't a sign of anything except that rivers dry up. The Sahara Desert was once suitable for farming but things change. My backyard used to be buried under hundreds of feet of solid ice during the last ice age, but that changed, too. Any time a tornado or hurricane happens, they blame global warming. Next time there's a big earthquake or volcanic eruption I expect they'll try to blame that on warming, too, but it's gotten pretty ridiculous.

Where do you live, in the ocean??  The global warming fight took big hit when it was revealed that your buddy Al Gore does not practice what he preaches.  After his big "scientific" movie was found to have half-truths and lies, people started to look at how Al lived.  So the question goes back to you.  Did you take time to look at the FACTS? Did you check the FACT that Al Gore lives in a gigantic house that uses 3 times as much electricity as a normal home?  Did you check the FACT the Earth goes through cooling and warming periods through out history.  I can go on and on.  If it's anyone who needs to check the FACTS, it is you.

fake no misinformed yes. climate change is always occurring and even though you people ignore the fact there are just as many learned scholars that say it is not occurring. now should we conserve yes but this fictitious statement of facts is just pure propaganda but have as mush fun as you can with it. by the way the hottest 10 years 6 of them occurred in the 1930's & 1940's that leaves 4 years in the last 60 divide it up. river have been drying up for years watch out the next flood cycle the rive is not dead.

To understand how global warming is fake, you have to understand global warming. Global warming is caused by greenhouses gases supposedly  trapping the suns energy in the atmosphere, and apparently it's gonna melt the ice caps and we'll all drown.

Concentrations of Carbon dioxide, one of the most worried about greenhouse gases, have gone from 280-380ppm in the past 150 years. so we could expect in the next 150 years for the ppm to increase 100. Yea, 100ppm is a big difference, but by the time 150 years pass, name one person that's living right now that's going to be alive? That is why i don't care.

Scientist Implicates Worms in Global Warming

  Jim Frederickson, the research director at the Composting Association has called for data on worms and composting to be re-examined after a German study found that worms produce greenhouse gases 290 times more potent than carbon dioxide.

Worms are being used commercially to compost organic material and is in preference to putting it into the landfill. The German government wants 45% of all waste to be composted by 2015.

"Everybody... thinks they can do no harm but they contribute to global warming. People are looking into alternative waste treatments but we have to make sure that we are not jumping from the frying pan into the fire," said Frederickson.

i'm guessing it's because no one thinks it will effect them because it'll come into play after their life time, which is not true, also some people don't want a lifestyle change, like y'know, recycling and not using as much electricity and stuff.

There are motivated true believers. People who started out knowing nothing about global warming but were motivated by support for or opposition to Al Gore.

Now Mr Gore did not say a lot of things that his loyal supporters have tacked on, and basically he did nothing more than put together a nice slide show to teach what a lot of scientists were saying. It was not his own research.

But when a political polarization might be useful, his political opponents  polarize predictably.

It might have been better if this issue had been taken up by a non-political icon so that we would be evaluating this without liberal/conservative blinders.
