  1. Global warming is a natural process of the earth....if its caused by nature.  Same with global cooling.

Humans are burning TONS of fossil fuels which is increasing the CO2 in the atmosphere.  This is causing an increase in both rate and quantity of CO2 our "natural" environment can handle.

With this increase....the speed at which global temps increase is accelerated, to a point past "natural" highs.

Rather than 200,000 years for this to occur, we have done it in little under 200.

Also, the massive EXTRA amount of fossil fuels being burned cannot be soaked up by the regular earth cycle.  This fossil fuel is just that....OLD, OLD, OLD, meaning it should "naturally" be left in the ground where it doesn't get into our atmosphere.  But we humans have changed that now.

    Hope this helps.

  2. Easy enough.....

carbon dioxide and methane are green house gases .....they cause the GREEN HOUSE EFFECT in the atmosphere

it results in the increase of the average temperature of the earths atmosphere forming a canopy like covering all round it

so  GLACIES ARE MELTING....... LEADING TO A RISE IN THE SEA LEVEL ...........WHICH IN TURN IS FLOODING THE LOW LYING AREAS(Kolkata,Mumbai, coastal areas are threatened due to this)

besides dont u think its hotter these days.....

  3. not only what the others have said, but when we lose animal species, we also hurt ourselves, due to the fact that each "animal", even humans, depend on each other to keep the eco system in line. Should we lose a species, it impacts the rest of mother earth, and every human and animal alive, which, when impacted, hurts all. Look at the arctic, ice melting, polar bears losing food and their lives just to search for food, no land for them to rest on and no food to be found.

Wolves were allowed to be hunted next to extinction, in wyoming, the "food chain" wasn't kept in tact, other animal species thrived. the bison were eliminated, brought back, now that area is blooming better than it was, as all is back to the way it should be, but not quite the pristine place God made. OUr poor earth is being depleted due to man's selfish greed, just because the almighty $ means more to some than the greatest gift that God gave us. That greatest gift would be mother earth, her provisions, benefiting man & animal kind, want for nothing, and think, man is taking away all that so he can reap his almighty $ for benefit of his wallet and bank account. If we were to go green, all the way, not just 1/2 @$$ed, how much greater would would our mother earth be? & the rest of us as well? Once this is all gone, global warming taking it, along with the greed, what good's that "green" dollar going to be worth when the world is said and done? Have you heard the ole saying? "Can't take it with you", & if there's no heirs to pass it on too, because there is no world left for life, who you going to give it to, and what good is all that money then? Think about it...Did you even check out 1 segment of Planet Earth, the series on Discovery Channel? if not, google it, check out some of the pics, or try to find a rerun of the series, or go to the Discovery Channel and purchase, if you can afford it the dvd set. You will see, first hand, scenes you will never get to see in your lifetime, unless you are very well off, and then wonder if "global warming" is or could be conceived a threat. Look at what this world has to offer and wonder if it's a serious problem. Why not protect the best gift of all? That which God has given to us and let's not under-appreciate her.

  4. Media,international / governmental , hype. Mixed with a lack

of natural occurrences, and environmental understanding. You now have a recipe for true mayhem.Which of course includes, economical and social discord.

  5. I think Dr. Jello answered the question best-------

but it's a great question! Because--------- absolutely nothing is going to happen over the next 100 years that will:

    Kill millions of people

    Kill millions of animals

    Drown millions of people

or otherwise change the Earth in any significant fashion that will be noticed.

  6. Because it is one.  I used to be in denial just like you, but now I realize that people are causing global warming.  We need to stop.

  7. The rising sea level will give the most probs. And farming changes. We may see more severe drought down south where much of our produce comes from.

  8. i dunno, geuss its the same reason why people think aids, cancer, rape and murder are problems. what a stupid question

  9. Because many people around the word will experience problems growing food, obtaining water and withstanding severe weather events.

Why don't you spell your name right?

  10. Sea levels are not rising.  Polar icecaps are expanding, not receding.  So why do people think that 'global warming' is a problem?

Because they are being notoriously and seriously misled by a group of politicians, lobbyists, and wacko-scientists.  This group will tell you that all the world's top scientists believe in global warming.  But factually, nothing could be farther from the truth.

Many emininent scientists including geophysicists, solar physicists and climatologists (not sure that a climatologist is a scientist really though) would tell you what I did in the above paragraph.

There is a lot of money to be made from a huge scam like this, and certain people were quick to realize this.  How rich are they getting?  VERY!!

A better plan would be to get them off the streets and into the prisons where they belong.

  11. cause it is,

there is evidence that we are helping global warming happen faster than nature would allow it, and we are not fighting it.

one of the main global warming ideas is that we are making holes in our ozone layer, and that leads to more heat coming in, but it also leads to more UV rays, UV rays have been linked to one of the major causes of skin cancer,

so unless you want to put on pounds of sun lotion every day, then we all need to to act together and stop it!

unless of course, you think cancer is a good thing because you seem to be uneducated

  12. Why wouldn't we.

Maybe youre thinking as far as 20 or even 50 yrs. And maybe there won't be one major change. But I think eventually global warming is going to catch up with us. Why wouldnt you want to preserve our earth...for your kids. Or any  future generation.

Why NOT worry about it!? ya know. do little things to help prevent it...

  13. Mental deficiencies

  14. Hotter climate by possibly 5 degress centigrade:might be Okay for people like me living in Scotland but not those in hot continents.  It will destroy all arable land thus increasing starvation levels.

Flooding: as icecaps melt sea levels rise.  Mony low lying coastal towns will be flooded permanently.  These people will have to move elsewhere increasing overcrowding in cities and increasing pressure on infrastructure.  Will destroy land and make many islanders homeless.

With warmer temperatures the amount of formerly Tropical Deases moving to previously non tropical areas will increase.  I'm looking forward to giving my kids (not for a few years yet please!) malaria pills as they play in Edinburghs parks.

many many more...  I suggest you read up on it.  there are two sides to this story, belevers and skeptics and I think everyone should view both sides before they make a decision, I've made mine based on reading and viewing programmes from both viewpoints.

Its a serious issue and people shouldn't believe everything they hear off their mate down the pub...and you shouldn't take these answers from Yahoo as the final word.  Go read up on things and make up your own mind.

  15. You cant do that ,

change your personality and name ,halfway through a question ,

please try to be consistent with something.

At least Global warming is consistent with the danger it presents to humanity

Pull up the bobby socks please.

Why don`t you be a Layman like me ,it is easier to spell

  16. LOL...because it is????  DUH....

  17. Because the media says it is. If you watch "The Great Global Warming Swindle", it sheds some light on such closed minded people. Look Youtube 20/20 John Stossel regarding global warming. It is sad what we do to scientists. Without looking at Global Warming with an open mind, people are likely to be totally biased, and stick to personal feelings instead of facts. Global Warming is just another "issue" that brings power to environmentalists, it is laughable.

  18. because if we don't stop it half the world will be under water!!!!

  19. One day the world is going to be out of control with gobal warming that those islands will be under water.

The sea levels going to rise

its going to get warmer people may not notice but its affecting this  world fast not much we can do now.

You cant stop global warming you cant get rid of it but you can make an improvement.

    its a disaster

  20. This "Bob" is an impersonator!  It's not the same Bob who is a "top contributor".  Please report this fake Bob to Yahoo Answers.

  21. Because if we melt the pollar ice caps it will delute the ocean water and shut off the ocean currents. This would cause weather dissasters of tornados and hurricanes on a biblical scale. And proceding that, the planets norheren and southeren himospherse wold enter a 10,000 year ice age because hot air created at the equater would not be distributed throught out the planet. If we keep on the current track. The planet will be fine. But the people will be ******.

  22. There are two types of people on this, the ones that believe we are the cause and those that think it's mother nature. In either case, no one will, or is ready to give up our luxuries. We are spoiled to the bone. We continue to burn fossil fuel at an alarming rate. Americans don't do anything manually anymore, it's all done with machines, run mostly on fossil fuel. Until global warming directly affects each of us and creates hardship, I can't see anyone giving up their power tools or riding horse and buggy anytime soon.

Oh, and by the way, those that believe man is the cause, will be the last to make a sacrifice.

  23. Baghdad Bob is back with his prime-time propaganda show...

    http://www.welovetheiraqiinformationmini...

The only serious problem is you claiming to be a climatologist. At least try to spell it correctly.

  24. Just like the warmers don't really know what our climate will do over the next century, they also are clueless to the consequences of a significant temperature increase. Most of the doom and gloom is pure speculation. Regardless of what we do, the climate is going to keep changing, and our science should primarily focus on adapting to those changes as they develop.

  25. how do you mean?

how is it not a problem?

simply the fact that humans are pumping enough pollutants into the environment to affect change is serious enough, isn't it? We don't own the earth, who gives us the right to destroy it?

besides which, a healthy environment means healthier people. More natural materials means less carcinogens and cleaner air, which lowers the incidence of asthma and cancer.

and lasts, for all of you that don't care for the environment- by consuming less, you save money. energy-efficient appliances last longer and use less power, which means you don't pay as much.

  26. Because of the believers who are telling us that global warming is going to kill all of man kind, cause coastal areas to go underwater, floods, famines, hurricanes, etc.....

Warmers only have themselves to blame for this Bob.
