Why do people think it's ok to get answers for their homework on this site?

In art's and humanities especially I've seen lots of homework questions. Personally I find it both lazy and ethically wrong to seek this kind of help unless the teacher specifically endorses it. Otherwise you should do your own research and find the answer yourself.

  1. I agree. They just don't understand the point of homework. You can't get any smarter if you refuse to learn.

  2. For me, the more interesting question is why do people answer homework questions. Isn't it surprising that people, at least "answerettes" are so eager to share what they know so unselfishly? I try not to answer obvious homework questions like: "Two trains leave the station..." kind; but if,on the other hand, someone wants to know about Lady Macbeth's child; I figure it's at least possibly an adult learner and I tackle those sometimes.

  3. You're right unfortunatly. The internet has made information more acssesable, however, the onus is still on the student to do the work and the research. That's why I don't answer  questions that sound like someone doesn't want to do the grunt work.I wouldn't be doing them any favors(although they would protest it loudly,I'm sure!)

  4. Well you can't generalize people by their answers.  Some of them genuinely need help on their homework and they ask it in the appropriate sections to try to get as much professional help on their subjects.  I don't mind seeing people ask such questions.
