Question:

Why do people think it is actually necessary do one of the following things?

1. Over time, I have randomly skimmed through and read an endless number of ridiculous questions (many with quite obvious answers) asked by people on here. Why do these people say they have searched, and I quote, "EVERYWHERE!!!" for this information, when I have quickly && easily found the same answers for nearly all of them by going to Google or Wikipedia and typing in the exact same question/subject?

2. Why have I continuously read answers (which anyone with common sense could tell) that have obviously not been researched by the person answering at all, or that are completely and utterly incorrect?

and 3. Why are these answers ^described above^ marked as the "Best Answer"? Because there is simply no reason, period, to do such a thing.

Thank you. =D

  1. Because what people really want is not answers, but validation. People love nothing more than someone who can type exactly what they want to see. lol

  2. Oy ... talk about calling the kettle black.  Your answer is on Wikipedia.

  3. Because not everyone really wants a serious answer to their question or they just want what they think is right confirmed.

As far as saying they have searched everywhere it may be that they don't have time to go through the whole internet to find what they want. Or they just can't be bothered.

I have done this but I really wanted an answer fast and as I wasn't at home I would have ended up taking up the computer for too long which means no one else would have been able to use it.

Another thing is that sometimes you want an answer from a real person not just to read it on the screen
