Seriously its called getting you behind and going to the mall.

How do you think people used to meet back in the day when public school wasn't for everyone.

Look I'm home schooled because i got kicked out of the public High schools and i got thousands of friends i got girls blowing up my phone and i live in a poor neighborhood so everyone is always walking around socializing.

And plus its funner because all they do is give you a book for a month and you can complete the assignment in one week then your done for the month basically you can do it when you want or just do it quick and take a long break while your friends are getting depressed at school I'm at home getting ready to graduate before all my friends.

Another reason i got home schooled was so i can get more time to get in Shape before i head off to MCRD San Diego

To become a Marine.

  1. because they dont go to school where most friends are found

  2. I don't think they are necessarily lacking social interaction but the concern is because if no body goes out or to clubs they will at least socialise at school.

If people are homeschooled and not a member of clubs or go out to socialise they will be isolated and miss socialisation.  Doesn't mean it has to happen, there are support groups and intrest clubs or sports clubs that can stop it.  Highlighting the importance of socialisation is just an area that *could* become a problem if things are not done to combat the problem or solve it before it becomes a problem

  3. Because people think it's 'school at home' and that's all the media ever shows them. You either get child abusers, or people who have a school room, and school hours from 8-3, and then give their kids homework. The kids get out when they go to church, and that's it.

People are homeschooled in different ways and for different reasons, but I've found that homeschoolers have the social life that they want, not that other people think they should have.

  4. The nice thing with HS is you have a CHOICE. Some people don't want an active social life and don't have one even if they're forced to go to school. It's got nothing to do with 'socialization' and the anti-HEers need to go look the word up before they start on about how it's something that happens at school.

  5. i dont think that, my friend is homeschooled and she is the funnest person i ever met

  6. You are not homeschooling.  You are doing homeBOUND education through your public school.  There is a BIG difference.

Those who don't understanding education at home (be it homebound, homeschooling, virtual school at home) just don't understand that it only takes a few hours a day.  That leaves a lot of time in a day to go other activities - volunteer, hang out with neighborhood friends, go to museums, participate in community sporting teams, attend an educational/supplemental co-op, on and on.

  7. My sister homeschools her three daughters, and they belong to a large mainstream Lutheran church comprised of a lot of professionals.  The girls have a very active social life and many friends.  All of them are a little too liberal for me, but the girls are relatively mature compared to public school kids, they are very independent thinkers, and they are just nice kids.

Everyone isn't genetically programed for school.  You are probably doing the best you can.  I'm happy to see you go into the Marines where you will learn in motion.  Truth is that public school is sort of a feminine activity, you know, "sit still and be quiet".  Ultra masculine males like to move a lot.  School is just painful for us.  That can change some as you get older.  It did for me.

You are bright enough.  Some people don't think about getting into shape before hitting boot camp.  I didn't!  I lost 20-25 pounds in boot camp, and I wasn't fat!  I came out fighting weight.

    Good luck.

  8. If it is really true that "all they do is give you a book for a month and you can complete the assignment in one week then your done for the month," I think that is very sad. This is your education we are talking about, you should be learning constantly. Don't just do what they give you, find other things you are interested and learn about them!

If you want to be a Marine, you could study the history of the Marines, all the different countries where they have operations...and improving your math and computer skills can only be helpful in that profession.

  9. I could be sarcastic and say, It's because people are dumb, but I won't say that..."

From our experience, the word "home" implies to that the home is used in place of the classroom.  And you know where school children spend the majority of their days...in a classroom.

This is why we prefer to say "Our child doesn't go to school." rather than "We home school."

    All the best.
