Question:

Why do people think our rates are outrageous?

i can tell that a lot of the people staying tonight have money (it is a small comfort inn and two double beds are $89.99). it really isn't that expensive thinking that we have deluxe continental breakfast, an indoor pool and hot tub open until 11pm, and a safe property (it is right next to the state patrol building). why do people always cry about the rate? it is the second-most expensive in town but it is VERY clean and the ones in the price range that they want ($50-60) in this town are dirty and some of them have roaches.

  1. I think most people want something for nothing. I would just ignore it, maybe the right to ***** is part of what they are paying for. As long as you stay pretty well booked you are obviously not too expensive.

  2. Your rate could be $20 and there would still be people asking you for a discount.

What people will pay is also affected by what's near the hotel.  Some people (myself included) could care less about a continental breakfast, indoor pool, and hot tub.  I just want it to be convenient to things.

  3. Sometimes it is not so much the hotel but what is near it.  Take for instance I and most people will pay more for a hotel that is near a good many restaurants and things to do such as beaches, golf, etc.  One in just a small town can have all of the amenities in the world and charge $89 and get complaints about it being high.  At a beach people would be kissing your feet for that price.
