Why do people think people in the east are the only reason 4 oil prices?

After all if there wasn't so much demand over here and we didn't all drive vehicles that only get about 15 miles per gallon then there would be more oil available and prices would go down.

mainly most don't understand that oil is a world commodity and it's price is controlled by speculators, buyers and sellers not by the country that produces it.

Prices are inflated by the big oil companies making incredible billions off of your purchasing of gas for your car.

And, yes the demand is way too high with too much driving, big SUVs like Schwarzenegger drives to environmental speeches, too much electricity made by burning oil etc.

American gas is very cheap compared with Europe.

Prices won't go down with less use because the oil cartels and big oil won't allow it.  Our costs would go down if we were more careful about the size of our vehicles and the amount of driving we do.

i think that it just realy depends on the oil companies..definitely not the country that produces it.

the oil companies just say they have difficulties so that they can keep the prices high

but it also has to do with the whole supply and demand thing

The world economy is growing fast, the consequent need for energy is growing, especially for transportations.

The relative importance of the US in the world energy consumption is decreasing.
