  1. the union of soviet SOCIALIST republics was communists was it not?

one wants all citizens to pitch in for every ones expenses and the other one makes all its citizens pitch in for every ones expenses.

  2. The communists used to tell people that human evolve from capitalism to socialism then to communism (the highest form of a society).

According to the communists, in Capitalism period, people only care about money. Capitalists (corporate owners) exploit employees. People go hunger in recessions. Farm owners rather pore milk into sea than reduce the price for the poor. Capitalism is sin.

The Socialism is better as everyone is looked after by the government. Food, accommodation, education and healthcare are free. Government provides unemployment and retirement benefits. In Socialism period, rich have to give more to the society that re-distributes the wealth to the poor. (Look at North European countries, Canada and Australia. They are running this system but still deny they are Socialism).

In the Communism period, there would be no private assets. All assets belong to all members. All members are in heaven. (Reality is, all assets created by people eventually belong to the leaders' families. Look at mainland China, you'll see the communists have achieved their goals 30 years ago, except 80 million people died of hunger and suppression. The whole society was in h**l).

We now know that Communism is nothing but a Tyranical system maintained by lies and violence. The world is so sick and afraid of Communism that people are even afraid of the word "Socialism", thinking it was part of those crazy ideas.

  3. the answer to this is very simple my friend. people are uneducated about the political systems of the world. it is much easier to class them in the same category than to actually find out the details.

  4. A small difference depending on whose philosophy you had taught.  If your professor drew a circle or a line putting communism on one side then fascism on the other you are mislead.  Remember true fascism of WW2 was called national socialism which kinda defeats that diagram.

The true opposite of communism would be anarchy.  The balance in between the two works.

  5. I'm sick of having to explain it to people. It's irritating that no one knows anything about politics or anything related apart from a few trivia facts that they learned in elementary school (13 colonies! 50 stars! Lincoln cut trees! "I know nothing past this.")

  6. They are equally bad.

  7. Tell me how they are different.

Before you answer, remember there are slight differences between the two social systems, but socialism itself does not work unless it becomes communism.

videogame, I am so glad your teacher opened your eyes in some respect. Now that you know that politicians are not perfect (which is something I knew instinctively, I didn't need someone else to point that out), maybe someday you will truly learn to think for yourself and not be brainwashed by your teachers.

  8. If you're talking about Y/A politics, it's just smearing.  They interchange either word to slam Democrats and Liberals.

  9. They have no idea about the different forms of government.  They either failed US History or they took the class so long ago that they forgot what they learned.  I passed my US history EOC test with a 91.  My teacher was a really bright guy.  He didn't just read the book and assign you homework.  He would challenge your thinking by posing questions about the morals of presidents and the problems of the timeperiod.  He tought us to think outside the box.  He was the main one to remind us at the very day that all the presidents in the US are human and that we tend to think of them as being perfect people.  They have had affairs, lied and we tend to forget the human element in presidents.  He made us evaluate social issues at the time and remind us of the fact that the history book is written by the winners for everyone else.  We never hear the loosing side's argument.  We assume that if you win, you are right.

I didn't find out he was a democrat until the very end of the class when he was talking with another student after school.  Most of our small 12 kid class was republican with a few independants while the only other democrat was me.

  10. Who cares..they are BOTH bad for this country, both suppress human nature to flourish, and both create a mediocre life for the mass's while the ones in power live the life of excess...and both would require the destruction of our Constitutional rights...I think you will have a fight on your hands if either are tried in the US....

  11. They have a lot in common, the main difference is how they take control!  Socialists promise riches for the poor to take power.  Communists take power with weapons...
