Why do people think that dope is a drug?

Dope isn't just a drug such as crack weed ext... dope is a slang word in Brooklyn used as a replacement for the word "cool" Thank you guys for your answers because it proved that you also think that dope is only a meaning for drugs lol this is gonna be great to laugh at sorry for making fun of you but it was a project for school. I go to school in the ghetto as some of you may put it but whatever :)

Because it is! It's addictive therefore it is a drug.

1)  Because the word "dope" is a slang for "drugs". That would be one clue.

2)  You weren't clear as to your exact meaning of "dope." Dope has been individual slang for weed, coke, pills, and heroin. I know that a lot of people consider weed to not be a drug, but the others are for sure.

My personal thought on the "weed is not a drug" theory is that if it did not do anything to alter your brain and stimuli, then why would you do it. Since it does alter you, it is a drug. And yes, alcohol and nicotine are drugs, no argument there.

Addictive materials are NOT drugs. Addiction is a personal problem, One can be addicted to anything, including s*x (which is not a drug).

There are over 85 million drs. and other medical people that do certain drugs such as weed. Pot has been used since cavemen times. It is a cure for glaucoma, it prevents nausea in cancer patients as well as a flu cure. It grows anywhere and since money is to be made on it,s production and the government can,t get their share they call it a drug. It is a weed for crying out loud. Did you know that we get chlorine from grass. It is also a drug. So is sassafras, willow bark, elm sap, and pine pitch just to name a few. Canada grows low quality hemp for rope and it is one of their biggest incomes. George Washington and Thomas Jefferson along with other presidents grew hemp on white house grounds. Some presidents even smoked it, but didn,t inhale. yea right. technically it is just a natural herb with medicinal powers. If certain drugs were left uncontrolled, there wouldn,t be half the addictive problems today. In a lot of European countries you are allowed a certain amount for your own consumption. nuff said.

It alters your brain  chemistry. I am no doctor, but anything you ingest which alters your brain in some way is a drug.
