Question:

Why do people think that mythical creatures are actually real?

I'm mainly talking about vampires and faeries (or however you spell it). I don't believe in these things. I'm not saying that anyone who believes in them is stupid or anything. I'm just asking for proof. Cold hard evidence.

And why do they want to be/contact them? Aren't vampires supposed to drink blood? That's pretty unhealthy...what with hepatitis and HIV and whatnot. And what's with "contacting" fairies? Why do you need some little flying bug-thing near you?

NOTE: This question is directed mostly towards people who actually believe in this stuff.

Others can feel free to put their two cents in, but please be nice. I want as much "insight" into this as possible...I don't want to make them mad/intimidate them so that they won't answer.

  1. where do these myths come from I wonder? Let us have our fantasies they have taken away most everything else

    I believe in fairies- I do I do :0)

  2. I haven't answered one of these in a long time. I love the question and I love how you're wording this. I'd like to state right off that I don't do drugs legal or otherwise. I say this because some people think that's the case as I start talking.

I believe in Fairies (so many different spellings LOL), vampires, dragons, dryads, and other spirits. I have had the privilege of seeing 2 dragons and many fairies in my life. I've also seen gnomes and various other creatures. As far as proof goes there isn't a whole lot out there.

Elisabeth Kubler-ross was a very important, well respected woman and in her biography she mentions a story about her seeing fairies and actually taking pictures of them. I'm not sure the pictures have ever been published.

There are actual vampires. They are not quite what the legends make of them. There are some living in Puerto Rico. There are two reasons for this. There is actually a genetic "defect" that creates people that really can only survive on blood or with large amounts of blood in their diet. Also after living on blood for so long some people's bodies cannot live on anything else.

There is a mystical place close to where I used to live. I once went their with 2 friends of mine. As we entered the wood at night I saw on a distant bank of the ravine a gold dragon. I was taken aback and when I mentioned it the girl on my right said she saw nothing. The guy on my left always had to be in on anything so he said he could see it. We watched and talked for about 5 minutes before I saw it raise it's head and blow flame. Both the people with me saw the 6 foot flame. The girl let out a little scream and the guy pissed himself litterally.

People beleive in the stuff for many reasons. For some people it's just wishful thinking. For others it's experience. For me it's my tie to the magic in the world all around me. When I was younger I played with dryads or " tree spirits" Very few people could see them besides myself. Even now I talk to trees and animals, and when I see them members of the "Mythical" races.

I've had psychological testing due to depression and I am completely sane. Does this mean than anyone can see them? no. I think that for some it takes a certain amount of belief first, or at least the openness to the possibility. Good luck in your search.

  3. They believe for the same reason other people believe in god/gods/goddesses.  Just because science has not found a way to prove or disprove some thing's existence does not mean it isn't there.  Apparently the person above me doesn't have access to a dictionary or has decided to remain blissfully ignorant as to the meaning of the word "occult".

  4. Ahh...well...I've never heard of anyone actually believing in fairys...that's a new one. Interesting. As for vampires...here's the thing. Is there really such thing as a mythical demon creature to turns into a bat and has fangs and has to suck blood to live? That's a big fat no. But are there crazy humans out there who sharpen their teeth, only come out at night, make little cuts on people and suck their blood to feel "energy"?..unfortunately, yes. They just had a show on the discovery channel about that a few weeks ago. What goes on in peoples heads I have no idea but I will keep them in my prayers...:/

  5. well most mythical creatures are based off of real things. Vampires and werewolves were based off of people who had diseases. Fairies, well i dont know, maybe fairies were substitutes for ghost orbs or things of light. People may want to be them because it speaks out to them. They like the idea of maybe drinking blood and stuff. Thats just how the world works.

EDIT: i agree with the comment above me too

  6. Why do people believe that mythical creatures exist.......... Well one day A couple of explores walked in to a meeting and showed these pictures to a group of other scientist and explores... And what this group did was to ruin these two men careers and made them the laughing stock of this civilizes world.... And do you know what was in these pictures Gorillas...... Yes Gorillas And the high born socialite  of America and Europe destroyed those two men.. I mean they could not get a job as a dog catcher......... And it took several yeas years for these to me to be given their dues for their discovery............. Now lets talk about vampires Now we all know about vampire bats or

mosquitoes or leach's and ticks and fleas and even a species of birds that live off of the blood of other species.... And if you ever read your bible in spite of what the Catholic Church did to the bible by removing pager chapters and entire books and then say God gave us permission to do so....... You find a story about LIlith who God turned into a demonic vampire.... Which should tell us that Vampires are all to real so you decided because you don't wish to believe that vampire don't exist is spite of what reality of this worlds states.......Now I have never heard of a fairy existing other then in a   fairy tale... But I do believe many of things that are written in the freedon of information Act check  that out for yourself and lets see if proof really exist. On the existences of real vampires........ So many people are to lazy to do their own research.... But do this and then tell me vampires are not real.......................................

  7. Because some people want something to look up to other than other humans. Because some people want to live in the world yet not be subject to human rules and restrictions.

Because it gives some an escape from reality.

Because in the dim past of humanity some creatures might actually exist, and those who believe might have a bead on their energy wavelengths.

There are different reasons for different people.

I mean is it so strange when millions of people believe in God, Allah, Yahweh,  yet there is no proof.

I see no difference in believing in those entities and believing in vampires and fairies.

That being said I believe in the gods and the other mythical creatures.

Mainly because I plan on attaining some of their assorted abilities.

  8. i think its because people desprately want to drift away from reatity.

they want to escape the pressures of life and have something/someone to believe in.

  9. Both of the fictional characters you mention are based in the occult. The occult is Satan's domain and he wields a lot of power and ability to deceive.

  10. You can't see God/Goddess or whatever you believe in does that not mean that their's not a higher power. You don't have to see things in order to believe in them.

  11. thers always the posibilty of new creatures

  12. The vampire myth derives from a real man who was a prince in Romania named Vlad III Dracula, who was cruel and evil, and was known to drink peoples blood,

Faeries originate from Folklore stories, mostly for entertainment.

Therefore, neither are real, although there is a disease that causes you to be super sensitive to the sun, porphyria, which used to be treated a long time ago by drinking blood. This disease also can cause your skin to be sensitive to light.

The first vampire was a villian in bram strokers book "Dracula"

Both creatures were made up.. they arent real sorry
