Like aaliyah. She was really pretty and people are always like "is she mixed?". As a matter of fact no. She was just part Native American ,BUT WHAT BLACK PERSON ISN'T AT LEAST ONE

PART NATIVE AMERICAN?! SO AM I! people usually think I'm cute and I do have long soft hair and people say "are you mixed?" or "your mom or dad must be white" and I'm like no. I just say I'm one part Indian just like majority of black people. Same thing with other black celebrities who are really pretty. It makes no sense at all. And most of them that are really pretty aren't even mixed.

  1. It's not just all about lighter skinned black women...don't buy into the Hollywood/Madison Ave hype.

Have you not heard of supermodels Alek Wek from Sudan or Iman from Somalia? They are African born and raised and are considered 100% black, and they are very beautiful! How about South African born and raised Miriam Makeba? She's beautiful, too.

How about people like Diana Ross, Diahnn Carrol, Dionne Warwick, Donna Summer, Tina Turner and Chaka Khan who are darker and beautiful?

The late Coretta Scott King was not ugly. Nor is Condoleeza Rice. Nor is Oprah Winfrey...and they are all decidedly dark skinned.

What about some of the dark skinned beauties from the past like Josephine Baker, Dorothy Dandridge, Sarah Vaughn or Billie Holliday? Even the unnamed woman in the Bible's Songs Of Solomon who is "black but lovely?"

and there are many, many everyday dark skinned women with decidedly African features who are beautiful. Just look around anywhere in the world and you'll see 'em.

Black skin comes in over 40 shades...and it's ALL beautiful!

  2. The world doesnt stop in america.

I live in europe and my parents r of african descent....on my mums side there is asian.....but she claims herself as full blk...same as my dad.

But anyways what am trying to say is that everyones mixed anyways but i get what you mean ppl know am not only african so like they dont really ask....but i dnt really know many blks that r full blk....and light etc without dem being mixed distantly or directly.

Edit: Yeah thats me im predominantly black blood.....but lyk ppl say im pretty and ive got naturally thick and straight hair...got masses of hair...and im naturally fair like my mother.

but i do sometimes get the are you mxed line. but thats rarely.

  3. I see this question about 200 times a week...the majority of this is in your head. There are lots of beautiful black people. Keep in mind that mixed does not mean just black and white. The bottom line is we are all fascinated by the beauty that results when 2 races join, not just black and white. These people are not cookie cutter material, so that's why. Just take it as a compliment and get the chip off your shoulder.

  4. Who says they can't be pretty?

We all came from Africa anyway!

  5. it upsets me when someone puts up a picture of beyonce or gabriel union and people comment by saying,'they are mixed'. all the black i know are mixed with something down the line but they still are black aren't they? it's so ignorant to say that just because a black person is pretty they are mixed.

  6. I dont think people think that. Not all  black people anyway, I think i look wonderful and I know a lot of black people who are pretty, just like in every other nationality.

I think for those who assume anyone is mixed...just cant get it through there heads that black people come in so many skin tones.

I know that my great grand mother was Native American but when people ask me what I am  I say black, because to me it is insignificant...not because of any kind of not claiming them, but for the fact that my parents are both black and all of my grandparents were.

  7. who said that?? Most os us know better....what about Hal Berry?
