Why do people think that swaying their arm back and forth would change the direction of a bowling ball? ?

Because the length of stength is different.

I think its to do with direction and pace darling.

Its to gain momentum actually... Create inertia, the tendency of an object to move at the same speed in the same direction.. More force, more speed, more chances of hitting all the pins..

I think they do it more for rhythm. All the beer they drink before they bowl is what decides where the ball goes. LOL. = )

Prior to the release yes, they do hope to control the force and direction of the ball. Afterward, they are in a little Voodoo Dance to con the ball into going the direction of a Strike instead of a Spare.
