I live in The Bronx and have my entire life. It used to be a much nicer and more diverse borough. It had everyone but, now it's mostly Black, black Hispanic, and white Hispanic (as Latino/Hispanic is not a race but an ethnicity). There is truth to every stereotype however, that does not mean that everyone of a certain race or ethnicity fits a stereotype. There is a lot of reverse racism in The Bronx. I don't really get it because many whites stayed in The Bronx until they were forced out. It's not like we all ran either. But, the schools turned to c**p and the neighborhoods went down the toilet. Many white people got robbed and beaten for no reason. Junkies and gangs ruled the street. That was a recipe for the "ghetto mentality" which by and large is ALL over The Bronx. There are ignorant ghetto people of all races, ethnicities, and religions. It's sad that most teenagers love that their "hood" is "ghetto" it makes them tough and they like to try to intimidate people. This occurs mostly because of lack of exposure to a different way of life and the pack mentality that is an effect of broken homes, poverty, and drug abuse. I don't see an end in sight either; it's like a virus and it just keeps spreading. Even the "good" areas are now going to h**l in a hand basket because there is an influx of people coming from areas of Washington Heights and Harlem that real estate developers have "discovered" and built on. I find it sad but, I will definitely leave this borough soon because I'm tired of the threatening behavior and the general lack of care these people have for their surroundings and neighbors. So don't believe the hype. The Bronx may not have burned out buildings anymore but, the people who inhabit the buildings are a majority of filthy savages. Until these people realize that hustling is not a career opportunity and focus on education and morals they will perpetuate the ghetto cycle. And our politicians don't do anything because poverty brokering and urban redevelopment are big business!
