Why do people think the Global Poverty act authorizes any funds?

I can't believe that in a rich country like this more people would not be in favor of this pathetic bill to try to do something about global hunger.

They don't know what the bill says.  They don't care what it says.  The people you're arguing against don't need to know anything about something to decide they hate it.

Tell that to people here who can't even hold onto their own homes.  Who can't afford their own groceries.  Yeah it's sad that Africa is having so many troubles, but we are not in a position to bale them out right now.  We have given more aid to Africa than any other country.  Why do people assume that we are doing nothing for them?

A few years ago, Feed the Children released a statement that 35,000 children die of starvation each day. Now if that is an accurate estimate and you could feed all of them for , let's say thirty days. Now you would have 1, 050, 000 more kids to feed. We can't solve hunger with food, as stupid as that sounds. You have to start with education, agriculture and cultural change. Throwing food at the problem is just fueling the fire.
