  1. because there stupid and believe everything

  2. There are a few reasons.  The foremost comes from the fact that the Mayan calendar ends on December 12 2012 (or somewhere thereabouts).  I have not heard any real reason for it ending then, but a lot of the crazies out there believe it means that the Mayans predicted that the end of the world will be then.  Wikipedia tells me that this tends to be a misinterpretation - there do apparently exist Mayan works referencing dates beyond then.

There have also been things said about planetary alignments and things then, but these will not cause any noticeably greater effects under such circumstances.

  3. I think perhaps that maybe most of the population of the world will perish, rather than the earth. However before that time and around that time there will be a massive paradigm shift when most will realise the futility of the human condition thus far, and we will eventually realise that all is one, and interconnected. Those who make this transition successfully will evolve to the next level, those that do not will have to wait further on time, however the truth would have been communicated by then so it will not be too long before they have joined the dots and realised the interconnected nature of reality. The point is this, no-one will be excluded and the world will become a utopia. It's actually quite an exciting time 2012, no point in taking off for the hills though, rather prepare for your consciousness to evolve, rather than your body to survive.

  4. The mayans predicted that there would be a large change in the year 2012. That tidbit of info has been warped and streched to the world will end. The change could be as small as a animal in south america is found that has properties that cure the flu or on the ploar end something as large as everything known being blown up

  5. Suck! fortuneteller.

  6. I don't think it will end, but it will change as we currently know it.  Hey, it just CANNOT continue on this destructive course...something has to change, and change, it will...for the better.

  7. Some old Mayan stone said it, I believe it, that settles it.  ;)

  8. Four years to go. All bet's are off. No need to pay for Life Insurance because there will be no one to dig the grave. And the insurance could not buy another warranty on life.

  9. what history channel are you talking about?  it;'s all fairy tales

  10. Because they're feeble minded..... Predicting the future is left to the soothsayers and psychics.  The doomdayers have been around since Nero was throwing Christians to the Lions and i imagine they will never go away.....

The Mayan long count calendar is ending a 26,000 year cycle and now the world will be ending, give me a break.

  11. Lots of things will happen on that date. Ya.crazy has mentioned some.  The earth's magnetic poles are set to realign on that date.  Right now we are going through magnetic pole reversal.  Science and astrolgy has confirmed magnetic field influencing a great deal of what happens on earth.

Realize and be mindful that every doomsday prediction in mankind's history has been wrong.  The Mayan traditionally used psychodelic plants and hallucinagents taking them to altered realities that are not quite of this world.

  12. ther is much misunderstanding and misinterpretation on this prophicy. I believe it wil be the time in human history when our collective conciousness will reach it's apex and shift toward higher conciousness collectively.

This is a very good thing!!

  13. Reason 1:

Solar experts from around the world monitoring the sun have made a startling discovery: our sun is in a bit of strife. The energy output of the sun is, like most things in nature, cyclic, and it's supposed to be in the middle of a period of relative stability. However, recent solar storms have been bombarding the Earth with so much radiation energy, it's been knocking out power grids and destroying satellites. This activity is predicted to get worse, and calculations suggest it'll reach its deadly peak sometime in 2012

    Reason 2:

If having scientists warning us about the end of the world isn't bad enough, religious folks are getting in on the act as well. Interpretations of the Christian Bible reveal that the date for Armageddon, the final battle between Good an Evil, has been set down for 2012. The I Ching, also known as the Chinese book of Changes, says the same thing, as do various sections of the Hindu teachings.

    Reason 3:

We all know the Earth is surrounded by a magnetic field that sheilds us from most of the sun's radiation. What you might not know is that the magnetic poles we call north and south have a nasty habit of swapping places every 750,000 years or so - and right now we're about 30,000 years overdue. Scientists have noted that the poles are drifting apart roughly 20-30kms each year, much faster than ever before, which points to a pole-shift being right around the corner. While the pole shift is underway, the magnetic field is disrupted and will eventually disappear, sometimes for up to 100 years. The result is enough UV outdoors to crisp your skin in seconds, killing everything it touches.

    Reason 4:

Physicists at Berekely Uni  have been crunching the numbers. and they've determined that the Earth is well overdue for a major catastrophic event. Even worse, they're claiming their calculations prove, that we're all going to die, very soon - while also saying their prediction comes with a certainty of 99 percent- and 2012 just happens to be the best guess as to when it occurs.

    Reason 5:

The Yellowstone volcano has a pattern of erupting every 650,000 years or so, and we're many years overdue for an explosion that will fill the atmosphere with ash, blocking the sun and plunging the Earth into a frozen winter that could last up to 15,000 years. The pressure under the Yellowstone is building steadily, and geologists have set 2012 as a likely date for the big bang.

    Reason 6:

Scientists in Europe have been building the world's largest particle accelerator. Basically its a 27km tunnel designed to smash atoms together to find out what makes the Universe tick. However, the mega-gadget has caused serious concern, with some scientists suggesting that it's properly even a bad idea to turn it on in the first place. They're predicting all manner of deadly results, including mini black holes. So when this machine is fired up for its first serious experiment in 2012, the world could be crushed into a super-dense blob the size of a basketball.

  14. I've heard something about the  gummed up by that stage that it will be pointless using it.  But the prediction was about the world ending in the year 2000, I think this was a prediction by a guy called Rasputin and I think that the prediction was because the bible says no man knows.  But this didn't happen so that shows about people who contradict the Bible.

  15. People seems to have misinterpret, just like i did

the online document says that there will be a MAJOR change in the year 2012 due to a couple of gravity-related incidence with the alignment of some stars, planets and whats-not which will greatly affect earth in many possible ways, mostly negative like disrupting electromagnetic waves causing almost every electric appliances like computer and TV to malfunction or cease operation.

so it is highly possible that the world will NOT end. Yet

...But there are also similar theories saying that earth might go off the sun's course that very day (dec 21 2012). If that happens then yes the world as we know it will end

  16. Some people think the world will end in 2012 because of an ancient Mayan myth/tradition.

It's a matter of personal opinion, since "experts" cannot agree what the end of the Mayan calendar on 2012 (the end of the "cycle") will do.

Will the world end one day? Absolutely. Should we be worried about it? I seriously doubt it. Not to step on anyone's belief's, but trying to accurately predict what will happen 12 days from now, let alone in 2000 years is impossible - ask your local meteorologist, or talk to the s*****k who lost his shirt this year in the stock market!

And besides, the Mayan belief was not what modern people think of as the end of the world, it was a resetting of the calendar.

University of Florida anthropologist Susan Gillespie says the 2012 phenomenon comes "from media and from other people making use of the Maya past to fulfill agendas that are really their own."

    Amen to that.

  17. People have been predicting the end of the world since time began, especially at the turn of a century.  Applegate and his group all committed suicide a few years ago because the Hale-Bob comet was supposed to have a alien ship following behind it and they thought the world was coming to an end.

Why?  Who knows why?  People get all kinds of weird ideas and act on them. I trust that the world isn't going to come to an end any time soon because it hasn't before!  If I'm wrong, then what?  Who cares? We'll never live long enough to give a heck.

    Don't worry about it.

  18. because there is lack of positive thinking now a days.and when thinking become un -natural and negetive then the end of person is near ,same way the nature works. but end of the world is not true, because there is still and always the positive side of the nature remains.so not the end of the world. thanks.

  19. Because it's a very ominous date for many reasons, and may very well be the end of the world...as we know it. The other recent doomsday predictions were based on nothing more than interpretation of ancient prophecy or myth. There is some real science behind the Dec 21, 2012 predictions in terms of Astrophysics, Astronomy, and Archeology. If you can manage to get through the barrage of contradictions and inaccuracies on the internet, and keep an open mind, you can find the answers. The "hype" is aways created by the doomsayers, those that predict calamity at every opportunity. Kinda reminds me of the "boy who cried wolf scenario" This time the wolf may indeed be coming for the flock.

    Only time will tell..

  20. No one really knows when the world is going to end. It could end in 5 seconds, 5 days, 5 months, 5 years, etc. When it decides to end, it will. But I don't know why people would believe a calendar that was created so many years ago. Even with the advance in technology today, I still don't believe anyone can predict such a thing as huge as the world ending like they can with predicting Earthquakes and such.

  21. does anyone really know the exact date of the world's cease? NO. they think they do and it really ticks me off, but who was it that said the world wouldnt make it to 2000? yep, thats right. stupid know-it-all philosphers. dont listen to them. just live your life everyday like you were dying. just like that song by tim mcgraw

  22. no the earth will not end so early

it may be true earth will end in this century but not in next 10 years

  23. Wow, it is hilarious to me how many people believe it. It's just a conjunction of astronomical objects, and it's supposed to be a *point* on a continuing *cycle* of the Mayan calendar. Why do they believe the world is going to cease to exist (!) ? Because end times prophecies allow people to believe that they live in an important time, and that their death will be significant and noticeable to god... in other words, it's exciting. It makes people feel more alive. And at the same time, imagining the world's imminent end makes us a lot more able to put our day to day suffering in perspective, as well as making us more apathetic about solving the world's problems - because after all, it'll be over soon anyway so why worry! We don't have to be responsible! All we gotta do is pray.

No, the world won't end in 2012, just like it didn't end in 2001. There'll probably be a lot of big changes, though, maybe in part because people DO believe so much. Frankly I'm a bit concerned for our kids, considering that people with their finger on the proverbial nuclear button might even buy into (or be selling) this end times BS.
