  1. John, listen to me.  Alcohol doesn't preserve you, you are destroying your liver.  Put the pipe down, walk outside and get some air.  See that Tim Horton's across the street?   Good, stagger over there and drink two or even three large cups of black coffee, then walk home and sleep it off.  Clearly you got a hold of some really bad stuff and your tripping pretty bad right now, but in the morning you will realize your mistakes.  Learn from them, just say no to drugs.

A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

  2. did you see the fight against foreman? hes not chicken hes just not crazy enough to go toe to toe with people who would crush him its called smart boxing

  3. ali is the greatest fighter of them all.

  4. i ain't got no quarrel with them vietcongs

  5. Just when I thought the boxing questions couldn't get any stupider, you come along and show me other wise.  But maybe your just a bored Troll because nobody could seriously be this ignorant.....could they?

  6. Up in Heaven right now (where the internet is REALLY popular), in the Former Heavyweight Champions Room (823rd room on the left). . . . . .all the deceased greats are gathered around the computer monitor. . . .reading this question.  They're all there. . . .Sullivan, Kilrain, Dempsey, Tunney, Johnson, Louis, Marciano, Patterson. . .

. . . .and they're crying.  Joe Louis is asking, "If ALI isn't considered great. . .then what were we?"

  7. Poor John. You are a terribly confused young man. More than likely not so much confused as misinformed.

Ali finished his career with a record of 56 wins and 5 losses. Of those 56 wins, 37 of them were by way of knock out.

He fought names like Sonny Liston, at the time, the most feard boxer in history. Not only did he fight the fearsome Sonny Liston, but he did it twice. He won twice. Both times by way of knock out.

He fought names like Floyd Patterson, who, at the time, was considered the greatest technician of the sweet science that the world had ever known. Not only did he fight this technician, but he did it twice. He won twice. Both times by way of knock out.

The list goes on and on.

He beat Archie Moore, George Forman, Joe Frazier, Trevor Berbick...................

My guess is that you are young and have seen "The Greatest" performing the rope de dope. It was a strategy to wear his opponent out and make them miss.

The science of boxing is not so much about hitting as it is about not being hit.

Please open your eyes, research your subject matter, and have some rational concept of what you are talking about before posting such an ignorant comment for the world to see.

  8. I agree. He was chicken to fight for his country also.

  9. How can someone be a chicken sh*t if they fight the best fighters around?  Oh yeah, he beats them too...

Yeah he lost a few but that just goes to show that he went into every fight willing to give it his all, win or lose...

Geez... who gave you an account on Y!A?  I think that's a better question

  10. Ali has to be seen at his best to be appreciated.  He was a superb boxer with incredible hand speed.  If he lacked something it was punching power.  He is somewhat overrated but his fight against George Foreman was a masterpiece of skill and ring generalship.  Foreman had annihilated Joe Frazier and Ken Norton and did not know how to lose.  Ali let him beat himself and even got out of the way as the big man was falling.    He was banned from the sport  for three years at the height of his carreer & was never as fast or as quick in his comeback.  Still at his best he would make the present crop of heayweights look like clowns.

  11. You are wrong about Ali. I am not a fan of his because of him dodging the draft as a muslim, however he was a good boxer. His mouth got him noticed, but he should not be slighted for his accomplishments as a boxer.

  12. He was very intelligent in the ring.  The object is to hit and not get hit.  Early in his career when he was quicker he was the best ever at this. As boxers go he was one of the best rivaling Ray Robinson, Joe Louis, any name boxer.  You may be refering to punching power.  No he was not the greatest at that.

  13. He's the best because he could take take the most punishment and then whoop you.

  14. if ure a small guy vs a big guy. would u go straight on?. thats stupid. ali is the greatest. no doubt about that.

  15. Muhammad Ali

Won three World titles at heavyweight

    Beat.........

    Sonny Liston twice

    Floyd Patterson twice

    Cleveland Williams

    Jerry Quarry twice

    Joe Frazier twice

    George Foreman

    George Chuvalo twice

    Henry Cooper twice

    Oscar Bonavena

    Bob Foster

    Earnie Shavers

    Ken Norton twice

    Jimmy Ellis

All of these guys were either former champs or highly ranked contenders with good if not great career records.  You cannot deny the man his due when he done all of this can you?

  16. haha give me a minute hahaha oh wow um yeah ali beat everyone in is era.many of them twice.he was the smartest boxer of all time and just to clear this up someone called him little he wasn't he was 6'3''.well john im sorry that you know nothing about boxing, but ali is simpley the greatest

  17. You are an idiot.  Ali hung in with some of the biggest punchers in history.  And its called boxing, not stand still had let some on punch me.

  18. yes but he beat the best.not the best ever but then yes.

  19. Hi John,  now this might sound daft coming from a Brit, and one who doesn't particularly give a rat's ***  about boxing.

fact is you are entitled to your opinion, and as long as you say it is in your opinion when you say stuff like this then there is no problem.

Ali was around a long time and fought a lot of good fighters, but as time moves on, so do training methods, and everything that goes with sport, but at the same time at his peak, not many fighters, if any got the better of him.

I suppose Bernard Hopkins is no good either, yes Calzaghe beat him, and Hopkins clung on a fair bit, but if it gets the job done, you do it.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but in most cases that is all it is, not a statement of fact.

  20. I don't think Ali is one of the worst boxers ever but I do think he is overated. I am old enough to have seen him fight in person when he fought as Cassius Clay. I was a teenager when I saw him fight Doug Jones at Madison Square Garden. Clay was handed a very unpopular undeserved decision over Jones.---- Admittedly, Ali was the fastest heavyweight ever but the fact that was an outspoken boastful braggart  who often clowned around in the ring + a draft dodger + a Black Muslim did not endear him to the public.---His " rope-a-dope " style + his frequent refusal to " keep his hands up " angered many tradional boxing fans in that Ali's reflexes were quick enough ( in his prime ) to enable him to get away with allowing his hands to hang at his side BUT generations of fighters to this day have gotten knocked on their butt because they dispensed with basic defense &  tried to emulate Ali like this.--- Also Ali was never a heavy hitter & although he beat Liston..he never had Sonny's  jab or punching power.-- I obviously am not a big Ali fan but I don't recall any time that Ali appeared to be chicken when he entered the ring.
