  1. well im forced to assume this. in their minds, our world just isnt exciting enough. so they inject a little of their own crazy into our real world.

the LHC is no danger to earth at all. the most common argument i hear is that it will create a microblack hole. the simplest way to disprove this is by providing a few numbers. the energy needed to create a black hole out of a particle is 1.22 x 10^19 (12 200 000 000 000 000 000) GeV. the maximum energy the LHC can produce is 1.19 x 10^6 (1 190 000) GeV. notice the massively large gap? even if the LHC was able to increase its power by a factor of 13, the black hole created would disappear in less than a billionth of a second.

  2. There's a lot of reasons; But the one I remember most is they fear "tiny black holes" will form from it.

  3. becasue they're stupid (really)

they hear black hole and think science fiction...

any blackholes it creates will die in far less then a second..... (nano-seconds... their existence will be so short without our CURRENT technology level, we'd never even be able to tell it was here)it won't be able to feed, it won't be able to grow it won't be able to eat dust, the facility, the city, the country, the continent, the world or the solar system.
