  1. Some people just get bored.  It's so much better to be naturally high, right?!  :)

  2. i do it to relax and calm down from a long day from monday to friday i go to school go to basketball practice then to work then home around 11 so its just my way to top off a day

  3. curiosity. I wanted to see what it was like. I'm no dope head and

I only tried things I thought I could handle. Weed, vicodin, alcohol, xanax, codeine, darvon, tobacco.

I don't see anything wrong with trying things out, I'm not addicted to anything. Or really like any of them drugs, only drug I like is caffeine.

  4. mostly peer pressure, or just to get away from reality for a bit, or just to try it see what it feels like..

  5. Marijuana makes you feel good and isn't addicting.

Other drugs you just experiment with without thinking of the consequences

  6. I'm assuming you mean illegal drugs.

I've never used illegal drugs but maybe as a nurse I can explain.

Most people start with experimenting, a thrill, excitement. But those who continue usually are trying to fill a hole deep from within, loneliness, depression, anxiety, lack of self worth, etc. These feelings come from our environment and the emotional center of our brain, called the limbic system. It's more complicated than that but Google "Limbic system" and you will find it very interesting. I bet Wikipedia has a decent article. When you try to fill up this hole inside with drugs or alcohol, doctors call this "self-medicating" At first the drugs work, but eventually they don't and you spiral down into a deeper hole, needing more and more drugs.

Some people can experiment and never get addicted, but most cannot. Add in an addiction predisposition through genetics and the emotional factors I mentioned and you're in trouble. Notice how addiction runs in families, but that does not mean everyone in the same family will have an addiction problem, genes are weird and unpredictable. It's similar to a baby with red hair and no one has red hair, except Uncle Harry from 3 generations ago--a simplified explanation of course.

Abusing drugs is not a moral weakness, but an illness that is very hard to break, that is why so many people relapse.

Our health care system does not help matters. Years ago IF you had GOOD health coverage you got 30 day in patient rehab. Now many people don't have insurance and even if they did MOST insurance only offers 7 day in-patient, or only out patient! Hey I can't kick my diet coke habit in 7 days, how can someone kick cocaine in 7 days?

It's a problem that costs TRILLIONS of $$$$ a year in the U.S. But we would rather finger-point than fix it.

  7. i think it's more or less "to see what it would do". It's a way to escape reality, for a short while, and a lot of people have really messed up lives, and use drugs as a way to escape all of that. That doesn't make it right, and long term use is obviously a health hazard, but at the time, I'm sure the people doing it are already so messed up that they don't think about the future.

  8. okay, well first of all, it has a certain addictive feature to it, and if you don't know exactly what I mean, imagine this way= what would happen to you if you drank coffee and smoked all the time, what would happen? You would need to intake whatever it is that you intake all the time, which makes the body need it more and more, like a habit.

  9. I tried it because all my life I've heard all this BS about drugs from DARE and all that. And it was SO OBVIOUSLY bullcrap, so I wanted to learn the truth, and did some research about drugs on erowid. I realized that drugs aren't nearly as harmful as people are told by the government, and that drugs are nothing but a fun hobby that also allows you to learn a bit about yourself.

I am truly amazed at the vast quantity of ignorant fools who blab on about how "drugss r bad n tey will kills uuu all tha tim!!!!". The difference between what most people blindly believe and what is true is ridiculous.

  10. Because it's fun :D!

  11. i know i did it because i was bored, I'm also a lot smarter than to get into anything harder than acid.  I stay away from anything that has been proven to be addictive.  I only continue because of the feeling and the taste.

  12. It's a way to experiment with different feelings your body can obtain. It isn't always a way to escape reality. For some it is, and some its just a way to have a good time.

  13. The same reason people spin around and make themselves dizzy. It can be fun, dangerous , and feel good.  Curiosity is the main reason.
