Question:

Why do people try to find the closest parking space?

It's most annoying because they'll drive around in circles just so that they can find a spot that's twenty feet closer, for the time it takes to walk twenty feet, I could park in that far away spot and walk.... and what else? you got the majority of pedestrian traffic near the front so a lot of times you have to yield to them and wait and wait, not to mention you increase your chances of running someone over... and parking in the farthest away spot is good for your legs... And I don't care how hard it's raining...

  1. I agree, I park far away and the rest of the drivers are just lazy and have to have that front space.

  2. Are you asking because YOU want the closest parking spot?? It sounds like it. People do that because: 1- they are truly physically handicapped and can't walk long distances, 2- they got there before you or 3- they're lazy. Be glad if you find a close one or be glad if you find one at all. In the end, what difference does it make? You have to walk a bit more? Chin up and give me 20 laps around the parking lot Marine!!!

  3. I am the same way as you and park way in the back, but only because I don't want my car to get dinged by careless people or carts.

I think it is hilarious when I pull into a parking lot behind another car and am walking through the doors of the store while they are still driving around looking for a close spot.

  4. So they will have a shorter distance to walk from their car to their intended destination. And then, once finished at that destination, they would have a shorter distance to walk back to their car.

So yeah, like everyone else has said...people don't want to put in extra energy towards a physical activity than they have to.

  5. I wonder the same thing, but its also the same reason why a person would walk around there house for hours looking for the remote, rather than just getting up and turning the TV manually.  I guess well never know(lol).  Just the way some people are wired

  6. ur rite-but ppl just dont lyk to walk tht much to the store

  7. It is the American way. There was a study done (can't remember where) but in it, they had a huge open cafeteria, and they told 1000 Japanese people to go sit down (under the guise of some kind of seminar or something). The Japanese people went to each row and would go all the way down to the end and sit in the last seat available, filling up the seats from the farthest side inward. Then the next day they told 1000 Americans to go sit down. The Americans all took the first available seat, caused a lot of congestion, confusion, and probably a few heated arguments. When I park, i take the row directly in front of the door to the building, and park way in back with at least a few empty spaces on each side of me. Too many people like to kick their door open and ding mine.

  8. americans today are so lazy and can't walk twenty feet without eating something to recover the energy lost from walking. that's why america is the fattest country in the world. hey at least we are number one!lol

  9. One word: "Laaaaaaazy."

  10. i think you forgot the /rant at the end of that.

  11. Just plain old fashioned laziness. (you knew that, right?)

Same reason perfectly healthy people use handicapped parking spaces.

  12. To be in the very first parking space closest to Wal Marts' doors is a simple prize cherished by all.

  13. They'd rather waste more precious time and gasoline circling around a few laps like buzzards, so they won't have to walk so far to get inside Wal-Mart to save money while they're buying a lot of c**p.

  14. just pure lazy, i park my truck farthest away and take 2 spots so i don't get door dings, i do the same in my big truck and wait until someone parks next to me before going inside because most of the time i have a car hanging 3 feet past my front bumper and all the spaces are made for truck and trailer and i stick out 5 feet farther than anyone else

  15. In most cases people are just lazy to walk. There are some people though who for some reason might need to park close, due to some health problem that makes it hard/bad for them to walk far but which is so temporary or recently occurred that they don't have a blue badge.

I usually go straight to the farthest away spots. That way I always find a space fast, and that extra walking is usually just good for me, but I have had to park closer sometimes in the past due to injured feet.

  16. They want to walk less distance. I, like yourself, don't mind walking a little farther, especially if it reduces the number of pedestians walking near my vehicle when I'm trying to back out. I have seen many vehicles stalk pedestrians, just waiting for them to find their car and pull out.

What irks me the most is when someone honks their horn because they want your space and you take longer than they like to get situated and back out.

  17. Because they are too friggin' lazy to walk.    That's ovvious by seeing the size of some of those clowns walking into the local arches joint after circling the lot 6 times to get the spot by the door.
