Question:

Why do people try to keep the belief in mythical creatures alive?

Why can't people just accept that creatures like unicorns, fairies, and trolls (except for ones on message boards) don't exist and never did? I've seen an increase of people that believe in this on Y!A lately, R.I.P Answers community 2005-2007.

Imagination and the imaginary folks, places, times and events

that a good imagination can conjure up -- should never be stunted

by ridicule.  You are asking all of us to just find "facts" and live by them and keep our imagination out of the picture.  You would have

a very "dull" time in that kind of world.

Now, why do you think that people have for thousands of years told stories about stange beasts (unicorns, gryffins, gargoyles, sphynkses)

or strange beings ( faeries, sylphs, trolls and ogres, leprichanes,

djinns, water people, mermen and mermaids, to mention only a few)

or strange dimensions ( 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, Nth) or weird time warps

(black holes, worm holes in space)  -- all kinds of interesting speculative things that stand close to us but exist in a parallel universe??  Your interest appears to reside in having a scientific

proof of anything and everything before you would believe in it.

Sooo- explain to me scientifically how does the modern television

work?  You can't see an electron, but you are willing to accept the

reality of its existance, how much does it weigh? (that is one measurement of reality).  I can go on for hours with example of so many scientific things that we take on "faith" without any proofs

    except the arguments of logic.

So, I challenge you to this, you just let those of us who accept the

unacceptable (in your way of thinking) and we will certainly let you

believe in anything that you wish to.  Will you "buy" into that deal?

    DEAL or NO DEAL  -----???

    Cheers,

  2. So i am, just look at our generation ridiculous religious freak, children mimic the parents, when they understand et believe in old political monopole they understand that its normal to believe in any **** he encounter as humanity do for so long.

every one lies and every one wants to believe even in Rael ,,, disgusting

  3. Sometimes reality is harsh. Believing in, or just enjoying, stories of imaginary creatures has been a favourite past time of human beings since - well - since they could sit around a camp fire talking! Its also a useful tool for getting across philisophical messages.

Imagination is healthy! And more important pretty harmless so why not let people believe what they want.#

Edit: I sincerely HOPE the next generation believe in these things! I'll certainly be telling my daughter stories of fairies, dragons, trolls and unicorns!

  4. why not?

  5. Maybe its because people want to beleve there is more to the world than people and animals.  thinking there may be a fairy in your gardan is fun to imagin or that there may be a mermaid watching you when you sail the ocean or river.  and maybe people r crazy to thing things like that but if u stop and think about it there could be all thoes things in the world. why trust science? i kno that it exspalins things in the world but it has been wrong be for. we are all ready looking for alians maybe trolls will be next. and y b consurned for the next generation. they can beleve what they want. and there is no way u can stop what started over 1000 years ago.  give the supernatural achance. who knows u could learn something.

  6. The truth hurts.

  7. the one thing ive learned is that myth, legends and fables are based on thing in real life. they had to get their inspiration from somewhere.

  8. Quotes from Albert Einstein

"Imagination is more important than knowledge."

"The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed."

"Whoever undertakes to set himself up as a judge of Truth and Knowledge is shipwrecked by the laughter of the gods."

"The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing."

"No amount of men can ever prove something does not exist, But, It only takes one to prove it does."

  9. i am truely sorry that you are going through life with your eyes and mind closed to all the true wonders of this great universe.
