Why do people turn on the shower?

When they want to cover up the fact that they are smoking cigarettes smoking in the bathroom with hot shower running

I think they do it to camouflage the smell of smoke, the hot water creates steam, which is supposed to absorb the smell of the cigarette.

Some people use aerosol sprays or light candles..It also sounds like they are taking a shower, which gives them time to smoke...it is a distraction.  Much like flushing the toliet or coughing when you toot....just my opinion...thank you
