  1. Glass is an excellent insulator, but it's very heavy.  Spin or extrude it into tiny fibers, and it's very good at keeping air from moving.  Air is a fair insulator if it isn't moving to support conduction and convection.  Styrofoam (foamed polystyrene) is an excellent insulator for the same reasons.  It's better at stopping air flow, but it's rigid, very flammable, and emits chemical fumes.

  2. because its thick and foamy and fiberglass keps ur house cool and warm wen u turn on the heat or air

  3. the ability to insulate comes from trapping air pockets.

Two materials good at this are porous and fibrous

Fibreglass is a fibrous material meaning it is comprised of layers and layers of fibres (strands) crossing over each other. this traps small air pockets, which in turn slows the transfer of heat energy fro migrating through the material.
