Why do people want to have kids if so many people think life sucks?

It seems very common for people to be depressed, angry, and generally feeling negative about their life and even the whole world overall. “Life sucks” is surely a common enough phrase. Most people are just like a little insignificant worker bee that goes to work every day at a job they hate, comes home to a life in which they don’t have as much money as they’d like, watches TV and sees news about wars; rising gas prices; bad economy; murders; political garbage… etc. At every turn there seems to be something going wrong or some kind of hassle or issue to deal with. And then there all the social problems and romantic problems that come up between people. And all the things that people need to learn as they go through life that often get learned too late. And in the end, everyone ultimately dies. With this in mind, why would anyone want to make new people that will just have to go through the same stuff and then die? I’ve been thinking a lot about this lately and I have come to the conclusion that I would feel really badly about making a whole new person that would have to live in this world and then get killed somehow.

Because it doesn't matter how hurt you are or have been. The love a child bring to the world is the perfect cure for all the pain that you've ever felt. I'm not saying that you should get a child because that will automatically ease all your pain or anything like that. But people make babies because they can handle the children they get and they will raise them with love and try to make a new generation that will be a kind and loving generation. (I hope I don't sound all flower power now.) What you have done is given up on mankind. And btw, a person that's depressed isn't uncapable of loving and if you love someone you might want to express your love with a baby. When a person is making a baby I think the last thing they think is "What if this person becomes the victim of a crime...?" And why not give a baby soul a chance to become a person, if you understand what I mean.

I think it depends on the individual. I have often come across people that have these negative views on life, but they may also have the view that each day gets better, and to bring another person into the world that will form the future population may be a good thing. These new children will have to face the negative things in life but they will have learnt from the mistakes of the people of today and will hopefully make the World a better place.

Furthermore, there are others that try to overlook these problems in society and separate them from their lives. As they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it is possible to see the World as a beautiful place and appreciate what we have rather than dwell on the things we do not have and the things that will not change. In this case it would be easy to have the desire to bring a child into the World.

Lastly, some people have children to try and add to their own happiness (which I admit probably doesn't always work!)

1. Aside from the life-hating people, there ARE some people who enjoy life and want to have kids. Not everyone thinks life sucks.

2. Of course, you know everyone has to die at some point. It's just the way God created the world. So they know what they're doing when they are getting pregnant, they just want another life in the world that someday might become president or something.

simple.. the people who have kids don't think life sucks :) and the people who don't have kids think life sucks?
