Because TV is a great source of entertainment. If somebody is bored but they don't want to leave their house, they will just turn on the TV. I do! TV is great!

My opinion: I think that the numbers have rosen because of the state our economy is in (gas prices). Thus, making people stay home and watch tv instead of going out. However, numbers have been high even before this and for that I have no idea.
