Why do people watch wrestling? Don't you realize it's fake?

Granted, movies are also fake, so do you watch purely for entertainment value? And why is it listed under sports when it is clearly entertainment?

It is both entertainmnet sport.These wrestlers train hard and also put their bodies on the line even thoughs its fake and the weapons they use are real.It is a sport since they use real moves like doing a backflip,carrying a 500 man or jumping it is a sport.Just like cheerdance

Aren't TV Dramas and Soap Opera Fake? Its Pure Entertainment. Its under Sports Entertainment. The Sports part is because you do have to be Athletic to be doing what they do.

Why do people watch American Idol or CSI?

So if someone likes wrestling than why ur *** is on fire.U have to understand that every individual has its own habbit and choice so if u dont likes wrestling thats ur problem.

I dont like MMA cause its just boring to me but my best freind loves it.He doesnt asks any ques when i watch wrestling nor do i when he watches MMA(k1).

Even though wrestling is scripted, it's still a sport. It's physical. The hits, kicks, and punches are real In alot of the matches. Think about it!  All sports from baseball to golf is infront of an audience. Therefore it is entertainment.

Pro wrestling is an art. I have experienced first hand how tiring it is when I try to engage in a sparring pro wrestling action with a friend. The art of performing the moves and the tiredness of doing that means a combination between an entertainment and a sport. That's why pro wrestling is known as Sports Entertainment.

I know it is fake, but I still watch it. The reason is simply because, humans have one thing in common, and that is: Violent Nature. Pro wrestling brings all that to us fans in a realistic (at least it looks that way) and safe way (wrestlers are not hurting each other, but they prevent each others from getting hurt).

Think about it, would you really want to see people hitting each other seriously with sledgehammer or even with closed fists? We would see a lot of body counts every Monday Night. Therefore, to satisfy our cravings for violent actions (admit it, its all in our blood), pro wrestling is the only thing which can deliver it to us in a very nice way, and a relatievly safe way as far as the performers/wrestlers are concerned.

Besides that, for maximum enjoyment, try to watch wrestling with one-eye closed about the fact that it is fake. You are sure to enjoy it, I guarantee that.

I'm sick of this question, it's completely redundent.  The people who love wrestling the most, know the  most about it, we don't need people like you to tell us it's "fake".  

To say it's fake, shows nothing but a complete lack of understanding of what wrestling actually is.  At least 30% of a RAW show is storytelling, character development, backstage interviews, highlight story reels.  The whole aim of wrestling is to develop a character, which is then performed in a very physical way.

The actual wrestling matches, whilst pre-determined in their winner, and far from fake.  Consider them  as more of a stunt show than a sport.  Wrestling matches are extremely physical and require a tremendous amount of skill.  The real skill in a wrestling match is acheiving a balance between performing sometimes very dangerous moves, whilst not hurting yourself or your opponent, whilst making it look realistic.

Wrestling fans know it's fake, but we don't like to be reminded of it. It's pure escapism and entertainment.  That's why the crowds chant and insult wrestlers who mess up a move, or don't make it look real, with chants of "you can't wrestle" being common.

Honestly if you sat down and watched a proper wrestling show, you would understand why we watch it.  You may not like it, but it would become immediately apparent that it's nothing but entertainment.  

For example, i went to a RAW show recently (in the UK) and we were treated to a total of about 25 minutes of watching a "little person" dressed as a leprechaun on a tricycle, being chased by a wwe employee, who was then blown up by a Looney Toons style acme dynamite plunger and emerged from under the ring with a blackened, torn shirt on.  Now you have the gaul to tell me wrestling isn't real, of course it's not real  ffs, it isn't supposed to be.

let me put it this way, its 30% entertainment & 70% sports..

the 30% is composed of the storylines, the promos & stuff like that..

& the remaining 70% consists of the athleticism & the physicality that the wrestlers have in line every time they compete in the ring.. you may say that it's choreographed but the point is they still move, be it choreographed or not.. they kick & get kicked, they throw punches & get punched & they get injured for it, proving that it isn't 100% fake.. & the main reason why i'm proud to be a wrestling fan though its blatantly not a pure sport is that the wrestlers go out there, perform almost every night, leaving their families behind because of their grueling schedule just to entertain people.. yes, they're paid but it isn't enough for me to compensate for those times that these wrestlers weren't at home to spend quality time with their family..

Wrestling is faked but the action is very real. They drops are all well orchestrated just so no one gets seriously injured. But even then, the fights are dangerous and career threatening. Bodies have been injured.

But wrestling is watched more for it's entertainment value. The fictional characters like Triple H, Cena, The Undertaker and Batista are the main attractions. The off the ring plods and storyline are what fans are attracted to. Including myself.

In the end, it's not about who wins a bout. It's what happens before and after a fight. Just like in the movies.

Wrestling is listed under sports only for formal purposes. Wrestling will never be sport per say. Even the WWE has acknowledged that and calls itself a entertainment company.

yes pro wrestling is fake,  The PAIN is NOT!!!, it's entertaining, they'll do anything to put on a show, even if that means risking their bodies, look at how many wrestlers get injured,  their one of the greatest athletes in the world do you even realize that?, when you join pro wrestling,  you're sacrificing your lives everyday just for our entertainment, do you think it is funny to have career threatening injuries??,  look at all the wrestlers who've suffered injuries, don't you have any respect for the great athletes they are??, do you even take into account that they work so hard going around the world staying away from their family and loved ones.

Of course people know that it's fake. People know that it's choreographed, and people know that the results are planned too. People watch it because it's exciting, and it's live. A lot of times, people make mistakes and the injuries are very real. I like to watch it to see people get hurt sometimes. Even though 90% of the action is planned, the falls and the pain is very real and people have a lust for fighting. Also have you seen the divas on there? I love watching hot girls fight! They wear the skimpiest fighting clothes. it's great! Tonight, Kelly Kelly gave this other girl a, Beth Phoenix a bloody nose. (that was awesome) To some it up, it's just great entertainment, and a great show.
