Why do people wear fur?

I just watched something on youtube showing animals used for fur coats etc. I feel physically sick.

The animals are still alive when they skin them, they stomp on their heads, smash their heads on the ground but it doesn't kill them.

It makes me so sad to know what they go through.

The people that do this should have the same done to them,

This world is a sick sick place.

Would you wear fur?

What is the difference if they are killed for human food or fur for humans?  Should there be a more humane way of killing them?  Sure.  Should we stop using our resources because you are squeamish?  No.  Humans are omnivores in every sense of the word.

I would never wear fur. I really can't imagine why people still wear it. I guess it's some twisted form of a status symbol worn by people that have some deep need to show the world they have lots of disposable income.

anyone that thinks wearing fur is ok should go to youtube, type in "chinese fur trade " and sit through it with the volume on. watch an animal hung by a foot and have its skin cut off while its still alive. watch the cats and dogs being skinned alive after being kicked and beaten . even on a uk mink farm, the animals are treated disgustingly.

and eskimos live in tower blocks now with heating and hot water , just like everyone else. they dont live in igloos any more so they dont need to wear animal skins. even if they did, they would kill the animal cleanly before taking its skin off.

i love fur. animals die. its how the world works.

let me tell you a story.  one time i was playing golf, and after my round i was talking to the greeter.  all of a sudden, i saw a cat running towards a tree. the cat caught a squirrel by the thing's in its mouth and shook it until it died.  then it carried the squirrel under a car and ate it.

now. does that cat deserve to die? didnt think so. we're animals too. we kill stuff. thats how the world works.

I watched something like that the other night, I am a huge animal lover so it realy affected me I couldn't even sleep that night. Its terrible to do that to any animal.

My mother n law has a full length, to the floor mink coat, and a another mink coat that goes to her waist. Everytime I look at the coats i think 'you're wearing an animal, ewww' - I'm not a fur kind of gal though

i agree with u, although i have choosen not to watch any video's as i had a rough idea how hard those little creatures had it so i say thanks for now the images i have from the description u gave, anyways some places need to wear it to keep warm such as eskimo's as there local igloo im sure doesnt sell scarfs etc to keep them warm but as for the fashion freaks that feel the need to wear it as some statement i say skin them and lets see more polar bears walk the earth with them for fashion

In today's day and age - vanity only.  

Unless of course you are an Eskimo.  I'm not saying that to be sarcastic. They use all of the animal they kill.  They don't raise them and skin them alive tossing out lots of skins until they get ones that "look right"  to get a coat for the sake of vanity.

One of the answers brought up the issue or cows and you better be a vegetarian to state what you are stating.  Very confused person.  Cows are raised and slaughtered for meat and dairy products because people need to eat to live. Yeah, yeah we could all go vegetarian but that is not going to happen.   Granted, this is not always done in a humane matter and there are groups out there that address this.  

HOWEVER, people DO NOT need to wear "REAL FUR" anymore to keep warm.
