  1. Jopurs prevent chaffing and bunching and also keep from scratching your saddle. you can but them at most tack shops or online at doversaddlery.com (there are many other websites, but they are my favorite.) I would try to go and try them on first, because they all fit differently.

  2. Jodpurs are trousers designed for riding.  They are made of heavy-duty fabric, have special padding to reduce friction.  A saddlers or riding accessories shop will stock them.

  3. tesco direct catalogue has them (UK)

  4. you can buy them from tack shops and you wear them to stop chaffing and there are some with slight padding to protect your backside.

  5. Jodhpurs are the best thing to wear as they are designed specifically for the job - they have extra fabric in all the right places and the seams are moved so as not to rub against the saddle.

You can buy jodhs from any saddlery or horse supply shop.  Some supermarkets have recently started selling riding wear, but I would not be confident in the quality.  In my experience Harry Hall jodhs are the best to wear - I own several pairs of their cord jodhs.

  6. Can't believe you didn't know the answer to that question before you asked it !!!

Women seem to wear the very s**y version these days, but why not take a trip back in time, to the days of the old Raj, when England really was great !!! Take a trip to Johdpour in India and see where they originated from. Buy some and wear them in reminiscent pride !!!!!

  7. if you use ebay you will find loads here.

  8. Most people I know who ride here in the USA wear breeches, NOT jodphurs, which went out of style in the 1950's. Breeches fit the legs and body closely and are designed in such a way as to avoid chafing of the skin and damage to the surface of the saddle. Breeches are also form fitting, without the awkward bulk that one typically sees with jodphurs. There are still some companies that sell and make jodphurs, but they are mainly marketed to children under the age of 10, not to adults. As for where to get them, you can find breeches at any tack shop or harness store, or you can order them online from companies like Stateline and Dover.

    Hope this helps.

  9. basically to stop the skin chaffing, give protection from brambles and tree branches if riding in a wood/forest and  to keep you warm and dry.you can buy them, and you really want to try them on for size before you buy,in any decent saddlery shop.the other retail outlets will sell you jodpurs but if you want the best go to the experts and they are the saddlers.

  10. because they are specially designed for riding to prevent chaffing the skin
